Contribute FeedbackCommonwealth has a somewhat limited vegan option, but when available, it's great. However, there is an automatic 15% gratuity added to your bill which some may find unreasonable. The overall opinion of the food was mixed, with some feeling it was dense and unappetizing while others enjoyed the vegan pancakes and avocado toast. Although prices seemed high, the quality of the food was excellent. Customers praised the friendly staff and variety of coffee options. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and child-friendly. Overall, Commonwealth is a pleasant spot for breakfast or brunch in Birmingham.
Beware, this restaurant automatically adds a 15% gratuity to your bill regardless of party size, which many may find unreasonable. The food, especially for vegans, was disappointing as the pancakes were dense and overly chocolaty, lacking syrup and overall unappetizing. The prices seemed high for the quality received. The service was also lacking, as orders were taken at the counter and food was delivered to the table, leaving little room for tipping for actual service. Despite some in the party being vegetarian, the overall consensus was that the food was not exceptional.
There's not a ton for food, but what they do have is delicious! The avocado toast and vegan pancakes are VERY good! They also have a decent amount for non dairy coffee options!
I partook in the the Vegan French Toast, avocado’s, and potatoe hash. Food was amazingly good and fresh. A great pick for this morning breakfast.
We ordered the sourdough pancakes, breakfast hash, and tomato soup at this restaurant. The flavors of each dish were exceptional, truly top-notch! I wish they had more vegan options available because I would love to try everything on the menu. Even though this place is on the pricey side (located in Birmingham), the quality of the food sets it apart from other expensive restaurants, such as Ale Mary's in Royal Oak. This place is definitely worth the cost.
I requested blueberries in my vegan pancakes instead of Nutella, and they tasted great.
