Contribute FeedbackThe mixed reviews for the restaurant Nix's Mate suggest a recent change in ownership and inconsistency in quality and service. Customers have experienced issues such as slow service, unavailable popular dishes, and problems with staff attentiveness. Some have praised the food quality, such as the lobster rolls, but others were disappointed in the lack of creativity and diversity in the menu. The trendy atmosphere seems more suited for after-work gatherings than formal dinners. While some patrons appreciated the reasonable prices and convenience, others found the overall experience lacking.
Restaurant appeared to be changing ownership. Not appropriately staffed so wait staff was constantly slow. Requested a table area to celebrate a retirement and hostess wasn't even aware of the request. Two popular dishes were not at all available how can you be out of lobster in Boston???. Took over hour to get coffee served and they were out of decaf. To top things off, wifi password would not open so could not send an important email. Have been to this restaurant many times in the past and it was GREAT. That's why I recommended it for this retirement celebration. Needless to say I was embarrassed
They are closing their doors and moving soon. They did not have a drink menu and eliminated most of their meals. It was not the evening we planned
Took about minutes to serve us a salad and a burger! We didn't event order appetizers. Waitress barely updated us on the status of our food. We almost had to take the food to go because it took too long
Very disappointed. Have been to this restaurant in the past and really enjoyed it. On their website they advertise oysters every day from We arrived to be told they did not have any oysters because they were closing the restaurant next week, but she could not tell us where they would be going. They should not advertise something they aren't offering. The restaurant was practically empty. We chose not to stay
Made a reservation for Mother's Day at through Open Table a few days before Sunday, May I was directed to Open Table through their website, which stated that they serve brunch from This was perfect for our Mother's Day Brunch! However, once we got there things changed. We were told that they DON'T serve brunch and that new ownership took over a month ago and has yet to change the website. Needless to say this killed our Mother's Day plans because the menu they offered for lunch did not appeal to our mothers. Thankfully the hostess had given us a few recommendations in the area and we were able to salvage the day. I hope that they have fixed the issue by now and make it known to people who plan on it for a special occassion that it is no longer available
