Huong's BYO Restaurant - Brisbane

The sweet and sour pork was nice as it was only had a light batter but it did need more sauce and as we had it delivered it wasn't an option to add more and quite an odd thing to required after, as it is usually covered. Honey chicken wasn't bad either but both dishes could have been hotter. Price was reasonable but the memorable taste just wasn't there.

Lemon Chicken - difficult to chew and even harder to swallow. Minuscule quantity of bitter lemon sauce. 4 steamed dim sims, good but could have done with some more soy sauce though. Special fried rice, edible but not like any "genuine" fried rice we have enjoyed elsewhere. Cost just under $60.00 for two. Not to be repeated. We're very disappointed, was expecting more. Delivery service to the hotel was excellent. It's always nice to be able to leave a good review so we feel sad that, in this case we cannot.

Had a 50th birthday party and ordered some entree items from the menu as finger food. We spent hundreds of dollars and the result was the same of each item dumped in alfoil trays with huge containers of sauces. There was no effort put into presentation, or dividing the items evenly into trays. We held the party at a bar less than a minute's walk away, and the owner wanted to charge a delivery fee! Another restaurant happily walked the order placed with them up the door. Stingy, no effort and very ordinary food. The owner was very unpleasant, to say the least. Never again.

We get the prawn pad thai and chicken yellow curry.My wife and I have lived in the West End and South Brisbane for 7 years and Huongs has been the place I hanker for more than any other Thai in the area.Prawn pad thai is 10/10Chicken yellow curry 10/10Everything else we've tried is mediocre. Service is OK but nothing special. On one occasion we took some visiting family to Huongs and we ordered a platter of veggies and it was $16 for some chinese fried cauliflower and carrot with a bit of celery and bok choi. It was a rip off and I complained but they didn't do anything to rectify the situation. So I have conflicting memories of Huongs: the stuff I like is VERY good, the stuff I don't like make it kinda miserable.

We had a jumbo mixed platter to start followed by two Tom Yum soups. The starter was really soggy with oil and quite expensive for what you got, and the soups were a little salty. My prawns were cooked really well however. The staff are always friendly and attentive but we feel the quality of food is dropping unfortunately.
