the coffee here is excellent. eating is decent, but too expensive. the dame, which pours milk and assembles the coffee, must also be a bit cooled, it seems permanently hectic and does not move into sugar sufficient and shatters the delicious small slices that come with the coffee, it is also not a good look that it seems panic and fight to maintain even if they are not busy. The coffee here is excellent. The food is decent, but overpriced. The lady pouring the milk and assembling the coffee needs to chill a bit too, she permanently seems frantic and doesn't stir in sugar sufficiently and smashes the delicious little wafers that come with the coffee, it's also not a good look that she seems panicked and struggling to keep up even when they're not busy.
Within the lobby of Waterfront Place, a recent redevelopment has taken place. Formerly "The Lobby", the fixture off to the side where people - presumably, correct me if I am wrong - went to get their refreshments between hours during work has been replaced by a tiny, modest espresso bar. From just that mere sentence, it might not sound like a lot - but location is key. I have so far only been in Waterfront Place once - more on that with the review - but that doesn't mean I haven't heard aspects about it. Without getting carried away, the lobby area is fantastic; it gives you a sense of wonder, being very spacious, having glass walls that give views of the river and the city on the other bank. Anyway, onto the food review. After work, I was meeting a friend as usual in a city during her lunch break. She is often a busy woman, and the schedule can tighten at a moment's notice. This was one of those times, which fortunately could squeeze in a brief encounter. What that meant was a change in the usual plans for meeting up, and one aspect meant another and this was the best sort of choice for her. As for what the crux of the menu is a form of basic cafe fare. At the first glance, it is easy to write it off a lot - a cabinet full of pre-made sandwiches, salads, a couple of hot dishes bound to be microwaved and - this one understandably - lots of sweets to have with coffee. A number of those they do have, but in the back there is a functioning kitchen. Therefore, freshly made meals are always being served. Speaking of fresh, that is another focus in which they have - producing fare that is good quality, and making sure that there is an active grab-it-and-go culture going around. Specials are done daily, and the menu is always fairly simple and non-pretentious - sometimes there might even be a surprise from time to time. For the workers nearby, they can get a brief bit of breakfast before they begin the work day. One last thing is that they actively do catering, and are open at any point for some business in that regard. This was one place that surprised me with how good it was. Service must always be addressed, and it is friendly and welcoming. Unlike many places, this one has table service and customers are beckoned to take a seat before deciding on what to have. It is also proficient, making sure that the place is presentable at any given moment. Admittedly, something must have been in the atmosphere here - I am not sure what, but it felt like a genuine cafe. As usual, since there was coffee available the first order of business was getting one - doppio as per usual. The One Eagle Espresso Bar has their own blend of beans, one that is right in their namesake. It was actually pretty good. What you need for a decently made espresso was present - the shot was perfectly extracted leaving a smooth texture in the liquid, it had a good taste between bitter and sweet, plus was served hot. In essence, another competently done coffee. I will look out to see how they spread their business.... and their wings. For the main meal, I ordered one of the specials. They had a pasta carbonara, the classic Italian pasta dish. This one needs no explanation. It came with a couple of bits of Turkish bread on the side, already infused with butter probably to make a version of garlic bread. A different take on the composition, was that a few bits of bacon were cooked to a crisp and put onto the side - mind you, I love my bacon crispy, and thought well of this addition. The serving size was generous, consistent in heat - obviously made fresh - and delicious. It was creamy, had notes of pepper throughout the sauce and the bread on the side was fantastic for wiping up the sauce later on. Pasta was cooked a bit beyond al dente - those are just preferences though - and they were nice having some cheese mixed through. Call it a simple and common dish, but this did hit the spot as I sure was starving then. So, that was One Eagle Espresso located in the atrium of Waterfront Place. How does it rate? Let's put it this way. While around the corner is Eagle Street Pier, which has more than its fare share of good places to go, those are only really good if there is the time to have a substantial meal. Right here, they have been considerate and had a place closer to the home base in case of there being a tight schedule and realising that when the body is hungry, it is hungry - quick and efficient, plus actual sustenance with freshly done meals. All for a decent price as well, I might add. Good job team.

In the lobby of the waterfront place a recent renovation took place. the lobby the reception of the side where people suspected to correct me when I went wrong to get their refreshments between hours during work was replaced by a tiny, modest espresso bar. from just this set it may not sound so much, but the place is the key.
