What User doesn't like about Royal George Hotel:
My recent visit to the Royal George Hotel in Fortitude Valley left much to be desired. Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately taken aback by the dark and outdated atmosphere. The room felt unclean, with sticky floors in need of a thorough cleaning. The advertised drink names on the walls seemed to cater to a less refined clientele, lacking any sense of sophistication. Overall, this experience was a disapp... View all feedback.

Average pub, nothing special... Bar maid with long blonde hair was just going through the motions and friendly at all.
We arrived here after a Work Management dinner, there was a group of 15 of us they accommodated with no dramas.. this is a great venue with different areas to sit. They only problem was the putting on a bar tab as the Barmen had no idea how to do it & had to wait a bit of time for the duty manager to set one up but other than that we kicked on here for the rest of the night & had a great time.
I have been to the Royal George Hotel several times when I've visited Brisbane but never eaten there. However I couldn't resist the lure of $6 lunch of barramundi, chips and coleslaw. My husband ordered the $6 steak which also came with chips and coleslaw. My meal was very good - two pieces of very tasty battered fish, a delicious coleslaw and lovely chips. The fish was accompanied by lemon and tartare sauce. My husband said the steak was a good flavour but too tough for his taste although cooked perfectly. Next time he will order the fish. The Royal George is a great spot for a cheap lunch/dinner and to watch the passersby.
We decided to head up to this area to check it out but were sadly disappointed with the area generally (and Chinatown in particular), however we had a great traditional Brekky of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans etc at this place. Good friendly service. Some unusual "people watching" of the various characters going about their business as we sat outside (undercover) eating. Although the restaurant is great we wouldn't rush back to this area, but we could see it is probably thriving of an evening with backpackers on the club/bar scene.
