Contribute Feedback What Susan Juul likes about 7 Seas Seafood & Grill Restaurant:
We were staying at the hotel next door and wanted a quick bite before going to comedy. Looked a little unkempt from the outside, but we decided to give it a go, and boy were we glad we did! It's super small inside, very busy (must be because the food is top notch ;)) and crampy, but aside from that we were pleasantly surprised it was very clean, and we got a seat in front of the kitchen and literally drooled as every... What Ross Mayer doesn't like about 7 Seas Seafood & Grill Restaurant:
The lady with short hair was not friendly, she's like in a auto pilot, food was salty, for adults and minors we paid overprice galore, servings too small for the price of a small slices of lechon kawali, almost bucks,...never again View all feedback.
My wife and I went out for a Friday night supper and I ordered two pieces of battered cod with a side salad while my wife had the seafood carbonara pasta. Both dishes were very good. The two pieces of code were lightly breaded and very tender, and were served with a side of tartar sauce together with slices of lemon and a side dish of cole slaw. The dish is usually served with chips but I opted for a garden salad with thousand island dressing. A simple meal, but one that was very good. My wife's pasta was also good, with shrimp, scallops, and salmon in a cream sauce with linguine. The portion was quite substantial and my wife had to take part of it home with her. The restaurant is licensed and my wife had a glass of red wine while I enjoyed a bottle of beer (no draft beer on tap). The restaurant is quite small, with about half a dozen tables, but it is pleasantly decorated and easily found in south Calgary on the west side of McLeod Trail on 75th Avenue. Parking was sufficient The venue is decorated well, and the staff were friendly, although service was a bit slow. We did not try the Filipino food but I'd be willing to come back and try it, despite some of the recent reviews. Our experience was fine, and we had no issues. The prices were reasonable, and although they did automatically add a tip of 15%, but I was OK with that as it is the amount I would have tipped in any event.
I thought I'd try it one more time---BAD mistake. I ordered Sinigang na Hipon--(soup with shrimp and Chinese vegetables) and asked if they could put some noodles in it. They said "NO, it doesn't come with noodles".I said- - "I realise that but I would like some noodles in it and I'll pay extra"--She came back and asked me what I wanted with my noodles? I told her that I just wanted an order of plain noodles.---The manager came over and asked also what I wanted with the noodles?---I said--"NEVER MIND, just bring the soup"--The manager came back again and said that I could have an order of plain noodles but she'd have to charge me for a salad. When the meal FINALLY came, I took the small bowl of rice noodles and dumped them in the soup and asked her why she thought that was so hard to do.--The soup was NOT very good so I asked for some hot sauce and she brought a VERY SMALL dish with a bit of something in it--(NOT hot). The green beans in the soup were so tough that I couldn't even chew them. I ate the shrimp and noodles then asked for the bill.----The very poor excuse for soup was $21.95 and the SMALL bowl of plain noodles was charged as "A Large Side Vegetable" for $6.00---And to top that off---they ADDED $3.40 to the bill for a tip. A BIG ripoff with lousy (Absolutely not like any other Filipino) food I ever tasted I will NEVER eat there again and I WOULD NOT recommend this place to ANYBODY.
If I could rate this restaurant ZERO I would. Pricing on their menu WILL not match on what you have to pay. They are trying to scam you. Please beware of your order and double check pricing on your receipt. Or better yet, DO NOT EAT HERE.
We ordered take-out from here and the service was good but the food was terrible. Some Filipino friends of my wife's recommend some food choices so we tried them. I ordered Kare Kare and there was no taste and no spice and the tripe and bok choi and oxtail was so tough that you couldn't chew it. (it all went in the garbage) The "Seafood appetiser platter" was WAY overpriced for what you got and almost everything on it was over cooked and tough. The chicken my wife ordered was OK but very tasteless. The only good part about the meal was the rice. We probably won't ever eat there again
Visited 7 Seas for the first time Saturday evening Jan. 28, 2017 and would highly recommend this restaurant! The place is very clean, even the washroom! The owners were both casual/ professional and very friendly and knew most of the patrons by name as they were regulars. We had the Lumpiang Shanghai; Kare Kare and Lechon Kawali along with plenty of rice and endless tea. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty, Yum! Portions were large, in fact we had enough for at least 4 people and left with "doggie" bags. Only suggestion would be to preheat the tea cups! This from a guy who has been known to send back food; call out a chef on quality and cancel a food order based on the cleanliness of an establishment. Highly recommended and will return.
