Donair Palace - Calgary

My partner and I enjoy Eastern Mediterranean food. We noticed Donair Palace as we were driving through the neighbourhood and opted to give it a try. The lady who served us was very pleasant. I ordered the falafel plate and didn't receive what I was expecting. The menu stated this was a salad with 4 falafel balls, hummus, grape leaves and pita, and there was even a picture which reflected the same thing. What I received was mostly warm rice with falafel crumbled on top, a small side of salad and a side of hummus. Garlic sauce, tahini, "sweet sauce" and sriracha were offered, and I took all except sriracha. I was offered a white pita bread which I declined. Although I didn't receive what I was expecting, what I did receive was pretty tasty. I would have preferred more salad, no rice (except what was in the grape leaves), as indicated on the menu. I am accustomed to Donair shops offering more variety of veggies like radish, cabbage, pickled turnip, and parsley, more sauce options like tatziki and baba ganoosh, and the option of white or whole wheat pita. Maybe unreasonable for such a small shop.

I very much enjoyed my food. Staff was very patient. I had a chicken donair. I found both the garlic sauce and the sweet sauce to be above average. The owner spoke to me for a couple moments about the pride they take in their food. Good value. Lots of meat. Food was served hot. Fresh veg.

I loved their beef shawarma. They even give u one free Baklava dessert to try. I think if u're a new costumer. I recommend for those who are craving for shawarma.

Very nice. I was driving by and seen that there are new owners setting up and actually cleaning not like the other guy that use to own it. I walked in and they were very sweet and nice, the prices are good too. They had a whole new menu with some very delicious Lebanese food I decided to try the chicken and it was like you were in a whole new world. Very good people and place and especially the FOOD!!!!!! This place is a must try

I do not like to post negative reviews but I feel if you decide to open a restaurant or food service you should have a passion for the food you serve.
