While some found the food to be expensive for its quality, others praised the delicious dishes and exceptional service. The restaurant's charming atmosphere, diverse menu, and accommodating staff create a welcoming dining experience. The French-inspired cuisine received high marks, with dishes like the Cannelloni impressing diners. Whether enjoying brunch specialties, weekday lunch specials, or a delightful dinner, the Laurier offers a unique and inviting setting suitable for various occasions.
Formerly the Laurier Lounge, the Laurier has a new owner, and a new, more expensive menu. The lamb shank (28) and accompanying veg were OK but nothing special. Service could have been more attentive too, as it was not busy. I'm not sure I'd go back.
Really enjoyed our evening out on our anniversary. Sat outside and enjoyed the mild Calgary evening. Food was excellent, read other reviews, service second to none and a little something for everyone. Was a little less busy a week after the Greatest Show on Earth so conversation was easy. Well worth a visit.
This place used to be the Laurier Lounge and served fondue, but it has changed owners and is now the Laurier Restaurant and is a French restaurant. You can see that right away when you get a menu, as the names of the dishes are all in French, but the descriptions are in English, so you will certainly know what you are getting. The wine list is also about 99% French wines. They have redecorated, white tablecloths now, and it is definitely a step up from when it was the Laurier Lounge. The food was superb, and our server was a delight. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but I have certainly paid more for lesser quality food. We had the Cannelloni as an appetizer. This is not a traditional Cannelloni, as it is not pasta. It is thinly sliced cucumber stuffed with crabmeat and avocado, kind of like a sushi roll. It was delightfully refreshing. For my main, I had the pork filet with mushrooms and risotto, which was spectacular. The sauce was divine, there were 4 different types of mushrooms, and the risotto was perfect. Did not have dessert, but they also looked lovely. The menu is small, only one page, and you would think that would make choosing dinner easier, but everything sounds so delicious it was really hard to pick. I don’t know if we just happened to catch a night when the chef was on his game, but I would go back there in a heartbeat, even though it really is a bit over my budget. I am pretty sure I saw a ramp to accommodate a wheelchair, but I am not positive.
A great selection on the menu. Place is small but cozy with charm. The food and the service was good. They make good drinks.
I usually only come here for brunch and get either the eggs benny or pancetta omelette. Both are delicious and come with potatoes. The food is always delicious and cooked perfectly, and I love the coffee here. Definitely recommend!
