Cute house turned restaurant. Food was wonderful. I ordered the cordon blue. Not an item found on most restaurant menus. My husband ordered the pork chop. He ordered it medium well, but should have said medium as it was a bit over cooked, but stillgood. Hence, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. The hostesses and wait staff were all very friendly. What User doesn't like about Yellow Brix Restaurant:
The food was ok, very bland and tasteless. For some reason, the town of Carlsbad hates salt, pepper, and seasonings on it's food. The food came in very large portions and was delivered hot. The food presentation is top notch and looks like art. Idined outside was immediately attacked by a gang of bunch of thugged out flies.. I didn't even have any food in front of me yet.???? The restaurant has a very intimate feel t... View all feedback.
Tacos were full of great veggies and served with sides of salsa, guacamole, and beans.
The food was really tasty but be prepared to educate staff. As soon as we said vegan our server just said they don’t have tofu. Talked to a manager and mentioned we saw an off menu option for tacos with veggies rice and beans and they said they do have all those things. All in all good experience and food was good. Just know you’ll have to advocate a bit
So Carlsbad is pretty close to impossible to find a vegan meal in unless you grab an Impossible Whopper at Burger King or go to the grocery store OR you’re fluent in Spanish and can navigate one of the local Mexican menus and ask for accommodations. We attempted this but didn’t have any luck so we ended up at Yellow Brix. The patio is very pretty. It looks a bit rundown but for the area it is nice. We were able to order the soft tacos with sautéed veggies and guacamole. They came with rice and beans but the beans had meat in them. We also ordered the brussel sprout salad without the cheese and it was basically fried brussel sprouts with craisins. It tasted like it could have been cooked in butter so not sure how vegan it really was. They also have the good old vegan standbys French fries and alcohol. On a funny note, we were originally told “all our steaks are vegan.” The steaks are not vegan, do t be fooled.
At best, vegan is a joke. Ovolacto or pescatarian is easy. Meaning, they will remove cheese and meat from your salad and offer basalmic vinegar dressing. Even pasta isn't vegan. This is the kinda place that thinks Vegan means no meat. Disappointing. I could have saved a lot of money striping down convenience store salads. The good: nice atmosphere, nice presentation on the food.
Outstanding in every wayGreat location, good parking, serene ambiance, good tunes, eclectic menu and super fine service. Loved the beer menu.
