Southern comfort food at its best! First time here, fantastic! We ordered the catfish with collard greens and cornbread and the shrimp and grits. Everything was prepared perfectly and was so good, we felt like we were in New Orleans. The owner was awesome and went beyond to make our meal enjoyable. This is perfectly prepared southern soulfood. What Mikayla W doesn't like about The Glass Onion:
The only thing good was the corn muffin. If you are going to call your restaurant Soul Food then it should taste like soul. Trust me there was no soul in that food. Everything was undercooked!!! Plus, don't call Lima beans Butterbeans this Georgia girl knows the difference. View all feedback.
Cozy and quaint spot with delicious southern classics at a reasonable price. The Brussels sprouts are melt in your mouth good, the fried green tomatoes are fantastic and perfect for sharing, and the collard greens are some of the best I?ve ever had. The staff is exceptional and made my first dining experience here very pleasant.
The Glass Onion ???? had some of the best Southern comfort food I've had. The flavors were amazing. It was definitely a party in my mouth. The shrimp and grits and the gumbo are meals I would eat once a week...or more. Very highly recommended!
Absolutely outstanding restaurant in Charleston, SC. Only 15 min from the airport. Great diner atmosphere with Michelin level cuisine with a Southern flair is my take on this joint. The shrimp toast is phenomenal. Shrimp grits were top notch and though I am not normally a dessert man, the food was so good I had a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie perfection. Give this place a shot!

We went there for the Diners, drive ins and dives hype, but my family didn't liked it much. They all liked the very southern style mashed potatoes, although my son found a chicken bone in his, probably because they add real chicken broth to make them. I liked my meal, the fried quail with collard greens and Butterbeans. I really also enjoyed their Cabernet sauvignon.
