This restaurant is my go to for dumplings and green tea. If you are looking for the most amazing and flavoursome dumplings this restaurant is a must. I visit at least every month with my husband and we are never disappointed. Even at this restaurants busiest the staff are always accomodating and the service is speedy. What Kevon Kertzmann doesn't like about New Shanghai – Charlestown:
The restaurant had bad interiors, utensils are everywhere, and airconditioning didn't seem to be working esp it was a very hot day. I keep on going to the bar to follow up my orders which later on i realised that the waiter forgot my order. The pork bun and xia long bao were both nice but the chicken, pork and noodles were just so so. The servings were quite small too. Wont be back and we regret deciding on this rest... Attended on 24/1. First and last time. Had to ask 3 different staff members to order, we should’ve walked out then. Ordered 4 meals to share plus rice. They forgot our rice brought it when reminded at the end of the meal. Our meals were brought out one by one with gaps of 20 minutes in between. The salt and pepper prawns were nice. As was the rainbow beef. Everything else was dry and at the point of inedible. Thank god we had a voucher to lessen the expensive bill we had. Will never attend again.
5 Stars, omg very quick service food on the table in a flash amazing!!! The best Mongolian beef l ever had! Satay to die for yum yum!!! Every dish was beautiful no faults at all!
We arrived at 5pm for an early dinner. Had to wait over 10 mins for service. After ordering we heard one of the chefs coughing in the kitchen we should have left then. Our entree arrived after the fried rice which we wanted with the main meal and was cold, we had to ask for it to be heated. The main we had to ask for after waiting 30 mins by then the rice was stone cold. The main was dry and very salty. This was a very expensive and disappointing experience never again!
Previous to eat one of my favorite places has gone down service not so well and food laity drastically fallen
I really love the food here. Spacious portion of size. Fabulous dumplings. The ‘rainbow beef’ is my absolute favorite dish. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is the fact that the service is consistently “very moderate” and since it opened. Never excessively friendly, no review that everything is okay, etc., and we had a lot of effort to get the attention of the staff if we wanted to order more drinks. I'm just going back because the food is great, but the "perfunctory" service leaves them great time.
