Dolo Restaurant - Chicago

Our party arrived on time for our Open Table reservation, only to be told by the manager that they do not honor Open Table reservations. Despite some mild protest, we were seated at a table set for two, even though the restaurant was half empty with several large tables available. When we asked about the large tables, the manager said they were reserved for a group of 28 people and we had to stay at our small table. Feeling uncomfortable with the size of our table, the nearby large group, and the kitchen being preoccupied with the 28-person party, we decided to leave. The manager showed no interest in keeping us there, and there may have been some racial profiling and discrimination involved. We will not be returning to Dolo, as there are plenty of other options available for our dining experience.

There was no bartender on duty, so we couldn't have any cocktails. Unfortunately, they were also out of Tsingtao beer. However, the food was tasty and the portions were generous.

The food was fantastic and had a lot of flavor. It was fairly quiet for a Friday night, however if you have kids or other folks who prefer chill settings this is a decent spot.

Just so so. I had been back for a couple of weeks from a first visit to China and was hungry for Chinese food. I'm not sure this is any worse than other places in Chicago but was disappointed that it was nowhere near as good as the food I had enjoyed in Beijing. Quality of the ingredients may not have been as good as the flavors were not as intense and overall the food seemed greasier than what I had in China. I did like our server though.

Food was good. Excellent quality and service. Would recommend if you are looking for a great Authentic Chinese meal. Would go back. Very cheap eat with lots of food to share.
