Contribute FeedbackNestled in the bustling heart of Chicago, this longstanding bar offers a mix of experiences. While some patrons commend the friendly staff, delicious food like the chicken pot pie and burgers, and a pleasant outdoor patio, others noted a drab atmosphere marred by bright lighting and unwelcoming vibes. Service appears inconsistent, with some guests reporting rude bartenders and early closures despite advertised hours. Parking can be a challenge in the area, which may impact visits. Overall, while it has its highlights, the need for service and ambiance improvements is evident for a truly memorable night out.
The chicken pot pie was heavenly! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was really cool. We had a great time. The chicken fingers were delicious!
I had been craving the chicken pot pie, but unfortunately it was no longer available when I visited the restaurant about 3 weeks too late. Instead, I decided to try the burger with bacon and blue cheese, served with tots, and it turned out to be delicious. I would definitely order it again. The bartender, Patty, was very friendly. I was also informed that this is the oldest bar still operating in Chicago, which was a nice little tidbit of information. Thank you, Marge!
I am devastated to have to write this review, as I am a regular at Marge's and usually love their food and ambiance. However, today their service was incredibly terrible. The male bartender was extremely rude and condescending, to the point where I cannot see myself ever returning to this bar.
I tried the famous chicken pot pie and it did not disappoint! It was large and incredibly delicious. I arrived around 7pm and they only had one left, so I suggest arriving earlier if you have your heart set on it. The bar is cozy and charming, I will definitely return!
This restaurant in Lincoln Park is a hidden gem. It's especially charming during the sunny daytime. The history of this place is quite intriguing - Marge was the first female bartender in the city.
