Contribute Feedback What Umberto Baresi likes about Black Pony Cafe:
I had a great time at this restaurant for lunch. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and it was delicious, with roasted mushrooms, spinach, and eggs. My dad enjoyed his salmon salad and my brother liked his eggs with salmon. The atmosphere was really pleasant, with background music from the 90s that brought back memories of my childhood and teenage years. The staff, especially the guy with the beard, was friendly and... What نعمان عبد الباسط doesn't like about Black Pony Cafe:
Staff members at the beginning were fairly nice, no issues with coffees and they came out fairly quickly. Our meals however took over an hour to come, and weren't all brought out at the same time. One of our friends meals was wrong and she corrected the staff member to which she blatantly accused her of being wrong and that "how could I write the wrong thing, it's right here" we found this incredibly rude, I understa... I had lunch at Black Pony after having a long walk by Coogee beach. The food and service are great. I had the lamb burger and house wine.
Used to be a fabulous cafe, ow obviously under different management. Staff spent most of their time sitting at a table at the back of the restaurant on their iPhones. Had to go in twice to ask for more coffee. Ordered something tnat was supposed to have vine ripened cherry tomatoes, with deep fried sage leaves. When it arrived it had chopped up unripe obviously cold storage flavourless tomato, no sage, and the goats cheese turned out to be cheap feta. When I complained I was told "we are allowed to make substitutions". To which I replied only if you tell the customer first. Rude and dismissive staff and chefs, I refused to pay for my very substandard breakfast and walked out after waiting for ages for my second coffee that never came, despite having gone in myself and asking them all sitting at the table for it. Don't bother going, it's a waste of money. Such a shame, it used to be fabulous.
We went here on a rainy day welcomed by friendly staff.Had their eggs Benedict which was on point and a double shot latte.I think this is the new owner running the shop and can see she is making some great changes. Will be back!!
We wish i had read the reviews before going there today for lunch as we would have not gone in .It started okay as seated , menus provided and water and glasses brought to table . We ordered tea which was quickly provided and ordered our lunches, a grilled chicken burger and a pulled pork burger. It took along time, around 40 minutes for the burgers to come and they had told us our food was coming on a few occasions but it wasnt and we nearly had to cancel as we where due at an appointment. The food was average and i suppose we were lucky as a customer on the table next to us complained about her meal and to be fair they said they would not charge her . On the table 2 down from us 2 customers sent their meals back and it looked like they where not happy with the eggs Their meals were replaced. I would not bother returning here to eat.
In a word, woeful. Literally everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. Not attentive to us when we arrived, we had to go and get our own water and menus after sitting down and waiting 10 minutes, forgot to put coffee orders through, food took 45 minutes and then came out wrong, no cutlery, it was actually quite laughable now that I look back on it. Food itself was pretty average. Even the people next to us were complaining to us about the service. But I think the real icing on the cake was when we wanted to split the bill 50/50 (the bill was $42 and we both paid paywave...) and the waitress said they didn't do split bills on the weekend. LOL. Anyway, I'd never go back to this place. Maybe only if I wanted to have a laughably bad experience.
