Really delicious food. Upmarket Asian food. The restaurant has views over Coogee beach from the veranda area. Gets booked out. Very fresh well presented food and good drink selection. Highly recommend View all feedback.
What Travelboozefoodhappy doesn't like about Sugarcane:
Charging a credit card fee. It’s called a cost of doing business not an add on charges to your already crazy high prices. $5 an oyster. Surprised you doing. Have a surcharge for them to be shucked as well. Or one to put your beer in a glass. Ridiculous!!!! View all feedback.
Book well in advance for a weekend night (or any night for that matter).
Really great all around, although slightly on the pricey side for what is essentially classic southeast Asian cuisine.
Everything and I mean everything was delicious, fresh, tasty, well thought out, prepared and presented! Almost too stunning to eat. Our waitress was gorgeous, we did the 'trust me' menu , so she picked our meal! We devoured and enjoyed everything. The dessert was also spectacular. Great wine list and cocktail list to top off a wonderful night!
We have been devotees of Sugarcane since it started in a small space in Surry Hills a few years ago. As we live around the Coogee area, we were very pleased to see it set up shop in a larger venue near the beach. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and boasts a great bar / cocktails and even a fresh sashimi bar. The dishes are amazing - as a regular diner I can recommend the grilled waygu tri-tip salad, the wagyu rendang curry, the crispy chicken with blood plum sauce, Hiramasa king fish with roasted rice and the salt and pepper squid with yellow bean & soy dressing as staples. However we always try different dishes and are yet to be disappointed. They recently opened for breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are amazing - no fired eggs and bacon to be seen but lots of innovative dishes with an Asian twist. My favourite is the 64 degree egg with sauteed mushrooms and roti. The service is always top shelf and the many people we have taken there over the past couple of years have raved about it.
My girlfriend and I have been to Sugarcane on two occasions; dinner and breakfast. On both occasions we left amazed with the quality of food that was served (pork burrito and eggs and roti for brekky are all-time), and also the level of service offered. Hands down one of the best places that I have dined at in Coogee. Love the wait staff too, so friendly and accomodating, always with smiles on their faces. Even the interior is spotless and classy. Great job guys, keep it up!
