Dined on a Thursday night, we both had Masman curry - one beef, one chicken with steamed rice and coconut rice to share.Chicken and beef were soft and fresh, curry was fragrant and contained sweet potato which made the dish delicious. One of the best Thai meals we've had.Service was quick and genuinely friendly.Cost was under $33. What User doesn't like about New Thai Ruby:
Not much in the taste of food And) I don't see Thai people in the shop at all. The food is not in Thai mood. So I'm not sure if the Thai chef or the waiter is not Thai. I'm not impressed. So I didn't take pictures. View all feedback.
This restaurant in Coolangatta is a good spot for lunch. The food is decent, but I found the coconut rice to be too sweet and the curry doesn't seem to be homemade, although the ingredients are fresh. The customer service is okay and the prices for lunch are great. However, with regular prices ranging from $19-23 per dish, I would likely prefer a Thai restaurant in Burleigh.
Thai Ruby serves the most delicious Thai cuisine I have ever tasted. The dishes are made from scratch, and the flavors truly shine. I adore the excellent service, affordable prices, and most importantly, the incredibly tasty food. For a satisfying and budget-friendly meal that will leave you completely satisfied, I highly recommend dining at Thai Ruby. It is truly amazing.
Very disappointed this time. Poor service and food not the same. Wouldn't come back. Refuse to take payment via card . Request for cash sale only.
Dinner with a group of people on a Thursday evening. Service was slow but Ok not in a rush. However must have been a 30 minute gaps between first main and last main ordered for 12 people - not very coordinated. We had Thai fish cakes ($9), they were OK. Also had Pad Thai chicken, (~$18), was but ok but had a tomato flavor to it (!?), not really pad thai. Other main was pepper and garlic beef stir fry,(~$18) no hint of either pepper or garlic, but lots of black bean sauce. Funnily enough, someone else ordered a beef curry stir fry, it looked EXACTLY the same as our pepper and garlic stir fry. Corkage $4.50 per person - a bit steep. Conclusion:serves were large, flavorful food, but resembles Chinese much more than Thai. From what we had not really Thai.
The sauces on our meals were gluggy. It is not authentic Thai. Did not have an entree that was requested. Thai food is usually light and full of fresh flavour, our meals were lacking freshness. Very disappointed.
