What Richard Lavoie dislikes about Wisdom Bar and Cafe:
Doesn't matter how good or bad your food is - when it takes an hour and a half to get served, then your service is rubbish! Would have walked out if we had not prepaid pub style! View all feedback.
We enjoyed two dinners at Wisdoms whilst spending a week in Darwin. First meal was Barramundi served with chips and salad, absolutely delicious and great value, the second time we decided to try the Steaks, advertised on the kitchen bar as the best Steaks in...Darwin and we now agree after eating them. A couple of nights previously we had had really good steaks at another establishment that was reputed to be the best, only difference was the price. Steaks at Wisdoms were nearly half the price but not Half the Quality. They were the same if not even better quality.
Dropped in for a beer and pub dinner. A rustic setting on a busy street but welcoming security keeping an eye on things. Our waiter was great and recommended the steak which you can tell is a popular choice though many other options such as...pasta etc. on the menu! A variety of steak options and the chef cooked ours perfectly as requested steaks were delish and tender. Various gravy options we had the red jus and green peppercorn just perfect. The beer battered chips were perfect for dunking. Coleslaw best ever. The meal and beers went down a treat.
I'd been wanting local seafood but it all seemed outside my tight budget until I found Wisdom with a seafood dish which was affordable and was also gluten free. I had the baked Jewfish, baked sweet potato, beans, rocket and red pepper sauce. Luckily I spent another $8 for a bowl of mixed vegetables as main meals sadly have veg as a 'token' on the plate. The meal was beautifully cooked, the service friendly. There was live music that night which was a nice addition to the evening. Unfortunately, cigarette smoke drifted into the non smoking area. But a nice meal and a good gluten free dish.
Thursday night had a great musician playing and there were lots of locals drinking and dancing, good fun.
Wisdom offers a good range of Food ranges for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would recommend their Salmon Wrap, nice tasting Smoked Salmon, guotamollie, red onion and cucumber wrapped in fresh pita bread. Friendly staff on the floor, behind the bar and in the kitchen! Next in the menu-Steak!!
