Absolutely awesome. Those reviewers who don’t rate the cafe don’t “get” Bruny. It’s quirky, laid back and different. It runs on island time not city time. Just ring in advance. Now the food stunning. Last night was Greek night. Set menu saw amazing dip, Spanakopita Moussaka, beautiful desserts. Service great. And all accompanied by local wines and beers. If your lucky enough to be up north when it’s open pop in early... View all feedback.
What Fiona Stamm doesn't like about Jetty Cafe:
We had the same bad experience as Phillip K twice! Just an awful customer service experience that left us feeling unwelcome. First time we went in to order take away coffee and we’re told off for not bringing our reusable cups. So, next time we thought do the right thing and order in but the interaction with the “unhappy masked woman” was so unpleasant we ordered take out anyway. So, I can only comment on the coffee... As the others have said heaven forbid you visit this place for coffee or food. The lady will look at you like you have come out of the wild for a feed after 3 months. Coffee was average. Service non existent and limited options (if you are even allowed as I am sure the lady would say no). Nice view though! Although you will see a weird dog that likes to hump itself from time to time... that was at least funny!
The food was good, the view excellent but Mrs Grumpy really needs a course in customer care as it spoils the experience.
Second visit- it was an attempt to see if my first appalling experience was a one off. The lady serving was rude and dismissive and thumped our coffee cups into the table. Apparently customers were an inconvenience. Getting a coffee was a major undertaking and heaven forbid if you wanted food -if looks could kill. Even paying the bill was a hassle, as they were too busy and we were told to just leave the money. Finished coffee quickly and decided to go elsewhere for lunch with our group. Happy that we spent $200 on lunch elsewhere......
The cafe is really popular with locals and our lunch was very good and the views are lovely. But service was not with a smile - it's possible this was because the cafe was busy, so perhaps more staff are needed at busy times? I would have given 5 stars but for the rather unfriendly service - we were made to feel as if we were an imposition. The galley is excellent! I think it's worth taking the side road to Dennes Point, rather than just heading off on the main road.
Reading there was a general store at Dennes point we were not sure what to expect. However we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of food and gifts to purchase. We got a takeaway coffee and cake ( the serve was very small) and walked the 20 metres to the beach at the Point where we sat and watched the variety of passing water traffic and had a great view of the nearby southern part of the main Tasmanian island. The prices are at the higher end as you would expect at such a distant point. There is plenty of seating in the café and also on the lovely deck outside.
