While some find the Salad Nicoise underwhelming, the menu is diverse and modern under new chef Jan. Service is top-notch and the owner, Gunther, is welcoming. Despite some waiting times, the food quality and presentation are impressive. The restaurant offers a mix of Western and Filipino dishes, and the overall experience is memorable. It is a go-to spot for many, with a consistent standard of quality in their meals. Vegan options and outdoor seating are also available.
Casablanca is a wonderful spot to enjoy a delicious meal. They offer a variety of Western and Filipino dishes. The service is exceptional, resembling that of Western standards rather than the typical service in the Philippines. The plates are served with an impressive gourmet presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and plan to return on our next trip to Dumaguete.
It has been almost two months since my last visit to Casablanca in Los Angeles. It was one of the first restaurants I tried on the boulevard. My favorite spot is always the outdoor seating for romantic conversations under the night sky. While a more extensive wine list would enhance the experience, the current selection is sufficient. I hope Casablanca updates their Yelp page as the website link is no longer working. I have heard that Yelp is not as popular in the Philippines, but many tourists rely on it for recommendations.
I entered the restaurant and found only two tables dining outside, with myself being the third inside. The group next to me was already eating. However, the food took an extremely long time to be served - I waited for over an hour. This was a disappointing experience. Additionally, it took 15 minutes for me to receive another straw for my drink, despite multiple follow-ups. This was a horrible experience, especially considering the restaurant was not even busy. The food was also overpriced. There are many other restaurants with better service that you can visit instead.
No matter how hard I try to get acceptable good on an international standard in Dumaguete, I always come back to Casablanca as there is no match at all in this city since over 10 years now. Not that it is fine dining or super exquisite, it is simply good prepared by an international team which knows how to cook. Not like in most places in Dumaguete where some local Chefs sprinkle some sesame over a fried chicken with rice and think they are the Philippine Gordon Ramsay. The Austrian chef here is since 40 years in business all over the world and knows how to prepare stunning meals.
Great food, lots of options. Who I'm assuming is the owner, walks around the restaurant greeting the patrons. Then around again to make sure everything was good. Servers are attentive and very friendly. Will definitely be going back for a meal on my last days here in Duma
