I am sorry that this restaurant is closing. We had an outstanding meal (appetizers thru dessert) and found each item excellent. The meat and cheese board was a hit. We devoured it. Boxcarr cheeses are wonderful. Our entrees were solid and good. I had fewer options than my spouse (mushroom allergy), but found something that really worked for me the crusted pork chop. We understand that the owners are being pushed out... View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Piedmont:
we will miss piedmont and are so sad that it is possible. we hope that the management and team of piemont will thrive and perhaps come back in another form at some point! View all feedback.
Great restaurant and a great meal to celebrate a graduation party. beautiful service and a very unique menu.
The buffalo Brussel sprouts were the best part of the meal. oh, and they were consumed before the terrible seasonal tasting menu with beats. the chef called it on the second cure, which was just a baptism on a teller. we share in many tasting menus, and this was lacking in glamour in effort and style. the gloomy course was almost so bad. the beating cake was dry and the beat-cookie crumb had an excessively earthy taste. the only way to throttle that was custard and white chocolate on the plate. I can't say if I'd go back. there are many possibilities out there. the only plus was the waiting staff. they tried to put a brave face against this shameful sacrifice.
The restaurant decoration is very beautiful without feeling exciting. eating was kreatiw (such as hog head croquettes) and delicious. even very simple food like the roasted cat was skrumbling. great selection of delicious cocktails also. I will definitely recommend my friends to go to this place.
Piedmont had been on our 'do eat at ' list since w moved to Durham four years ago. We had tickets for a play at DPAC and wanted to make our evening special. Hubby had chicken (I can 't remember the full name) and I had the beef ribs and both meals were beautifully done. The meal was expensive but well worth the it. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. And dessert small servings but just enough so you didn 't leave feeling too stuffed!
The food was excellent to be sure, but the portions were so small that they bordered on precious. (For example, the appetizer was four paper-thin slices of rockfish that were the size of a quarter with a half dozen micro-cubes of beets. It's pretty rare that I eat a 4 course meal and still remain hungry. I appreciate the movement away from super-sized portions, but it appears that the pendulum has swung a little too far the opposite direction at Piedmont.
