We had dinner from the a la carte menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I found there were plenty of choices on the menu as well as the specials board. I had pork and my wife chicken and we each had a dessert. The food, wine and service were all very good and the meal was good value for money. The atmosphere and staff were very welcoming and we wouldn't hesitate to eat here again when in Edinburgh. View all feedback.
What missesREL doesn't like about Asti:
Disappointed in the choice of the Pre Theatre menu, decided to look at the a la carte menu, equally disappointed with the choices. Settled on pate, it was okay, rather bland but edible, not enough chutney to compliment it. Had pasta with meatballs for mains, again nice enough, but settled on this due to lack of choices. The side or garlic bread with cheese was more like soggy toasted cheese was really not that appeti... View all feedback.
Richard cooking is imaginative and delicious. From his specials to the set menu everything is flavoursome and a real delight.
Very helpful and engaging waitress, an asset to the establishment. We had a set lunch menu. Very disappointing and didn’t appear authentic Italian cuisine. The vegetarian ‘Penne pasta dish with chargrilled vegetables’ had a few sliced olives and mushrooms, some bits of tomato and peas through it. My fish dish (fried plaice? Sea bass? was not good. Both the fish and chips were overdone and there was just a tiny bit of salad garnish. Wouldn’t go back, based on today’s food.

The side or garlic bread with cheese was more like soggy toasted cheese was really not that appetising, so this was not eaten. On complaining to the waitress, she spoke to the chef, who refused to take this off the bill really. We had returned to this restaurant after having previously enjoyed the experience, but this will be the last visit On a plus side the waitress was lovely very accommodating.
We visited Asti b4 Lion King on the 10th of January and was impressed with the food which was really nice. We shared a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced and the waitress was so friendly couldnt do enough for us. Would definitely recommend.
