Earls - Edmonton

We recently went to Earls with a large group of 60 people. Earls took the reservation with a limited menu for 20 of the guests and the balance of the guests ordered from menu. As one of the other guests, we were second to order but last to get our meals. One of the 5 meals that finally arrived after an hour was wrong and had to be sent back. The manager did offer to comp our bill which I refused. I am not sure why Earls would take such a large group when they were truly not able to service properly. Food was fine but less than stellar service.

The server was genuinely friendly, and very helpful. I only had the side salad, but they managed to elevate a simple dish and make it one of the best salads I have ever had.

We went to Earls for a bite to eat and it was Happy Hour. We ordered an array of appetizers and availed ourselves of the Drink Specials. Great food and drinks.

The food was really good - best clam chowder ever (better than many restaurants we visited on the East Coast.) But the service was truly disappointing. We asked for a quiet table and we were lead to a table in front of the bar section. Service was slow. My wife and I both took the same soup and salad combo (which should not have taken a long time to prepare, but we had to wait 25 min.) We were on the point to leave when our plates arrived. Morale of the story : being cute and sexy is a lower factor than efficiency and friendliness when it comes to service.

We had a big group. Service was extremely good. This location has been renovated since our last visit and we found the new space extremely noisy which made visiting difficult. All our food was very good with a few observations. Fish tacos were a bit disappointing as the fish was over cooked. Several of us ordered items with Cajun seasoning and the amount of seasoning was very excessive. If ordering these items I recommend you speak to the server unless all you want to taste is Cajun - especially on the salmon.
