While some reviewers had mixed experiences, many praised the friendly service and tasty food options. The restaurant has been recently redecorated and offers a clean and inviting atmosphere. Despite some minor complaints about timing and quality, overall, the Pasta Kitchen seems to be a popular spot for those seeking a satisfying Italian meal. Whether enjoying a pasta dish or trying the blackened chicken sandwich, visitors can expect good value and friendly service at this Edmonton establishment.
I have been to the Pasta Kitchen many, many times over the years. I have had some not so great experiences and some really wonderful ones. This review is on my most recent visit.I always make a reservation when we go, and we had one on Friday evening at 5:30. It wasn't very busy yet and were seated right away. Our server was Clinton, who was very engaging and very pleasant. It had been awhile since we'd been last, and the menu has been updated again. I was a little nervous as I seem to really like things that get discontinued. I'm still mourning the loss of the Borsetti. I need not have worried as the new editions looked really enticing and the prices still remained very reasonable. We had the Asparagi appetizer and shared. It was really good. For a main I had the Ravioli con Brie, which, in my opinion, was a great replacement for the Borsetti. We all had pasta and not one of us was disappointed with it. The only complaint that I might have was that one of us was missed with the Parmesan and two of us were missed with the pepper, even though we were like yes please. When it was mentioned it was rectified a minute or two later. Our drinks were kept refilled and everyone who attended to us were very friendly and seemed happy. The portions are on the bigger side and even though we took leftovers we did not have room for dessert.Based on this experience I will return, possibly sooner than later.
We were really looking forward to our dinner and were so sadly disappointed. The wait was ridiculous after we ordered. People were seated, ordered, and ate after we ordered and before we received our dinner. The meal was so average. We all ate a different pasta dish and they were all not great! The Caesar salad was very bland. Unfortunately we will not be returning anytime soon.
My husband and I usually have pasta which is always amazing. Today we tried the blackened chicken sandwich expecting a bit of Cajun bite. It was tasteless and watery as if it was pulled from the freezer to the microwave but nothing blackened flavored about it. The pretzel bun is great but the bottom falls apart after the first 2 bites. Will never order chicken burger here again.
SPK South is just average. I want to like it more, but it's just not the best Italian food you can get in the city. Entrees are very generic, but the servings are big which is likely why it stays busy.
It's been a couple of years since we've been to this establishment. Every visit has been for a special occasion. I can safely say that I will not need to go back after our uncomfortable experience tonight. It seems that having more staff on would be a great idea. Our waitress had far too many tables to keep up with and failed to keep up with our table of four at 6:30 on a Sunday. We were not brought plates with our appetizer mussels and bread so ended up messing our napkins and table straight away. We spent much of the evening waiting and waiting some more. For ordering, for food for the bill. After serving our pasta dishes, she said she'd be back with fresh cheese and ground pepper. After picking away at our dishes long enough we realized she wasn't coming back. When she did, we asked for cheese and she brought a tiny bit, barely enough for the little bit of 3 of 4 pasta dishes left and said you get the last of it! The cheese and pepper would of seriously helped these dishes too.An uncomfortable wait again for the bill as we looked out the window. So disappointed, even our teenagers we brought out to celebrate were looking restless so we told them to go and get started on their evening while we waited.
