After attending an auction in DeSoto, we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant that we didn't even know existed. We were served delicious dinners accompanied by apple butter. We tried the chicken fried steak and it was incredibly satisfying. The portion size was on the smaller side, so we can only imagine how generous the full-size portion must be. What User doesn't like about The Country Cafe:
The food was delicious, but the service was lacking. The mistake was not checking the drink menu. I ordered a coffee, which was cold and priced at $2.39 with free refills. However, a hot tea was also $2.39, but it only came with a tea bag. A box of 100 tea bags is only $3.48 at Walmart, so it seems absurd to pay $2.39 for just one tea bag. Breakfast is so good! I could eat breakfast there every day but I drive almost 40 miles one way. I hear their fried chicken is really good but every time we go here I can't pass up breakfast!
Service was great, good was good and quick. Overall the ambiance was sub par. Lighting was multiple shades and the ceiling tiles could really used replaced in a few areas to make it look clean. Otherwise I liked the retro look of the tables, dessert cabinet and old stove up front.
Very good breakfast and fast friendly service and atmosphere. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
I'd definitely go again. Love the home fries, the sampler has a lot of variety. The bacon is not the best, but service was good and everything else was great.
