Ambience is the word that comes to mind! Stefan is great to chat with about food, wine, submarines, France, Footscray food scene and life in general. The bar is intimate, warm and inviting. I've had many great lunches and miners here with family and friends and look forward to many more. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Small French Bar:
I give this restaurant two stars for its ambiente, friendly staff and a good cheeseboard. but apart from that we had a very bad experience at this place: weeping and eating were terrible. a glass champagne, the end of the bottle, was flat. inevitable at $12 a glass. the fish was oversalted and almost unusable. the raclette was greasy and tasteless and the accompanying salate oversalted. it took an hour and 15 minutes... There is a really nice 'bonhomie' feel at the small French bar. it is cozy, but not restrictive. the workers know that their menu is good with advice. it is French eating, so butter, cream fat are an integral part of some of the food. the menu is quite traditional and familiar to most francophiles. a small critique would be the kartoffels in degreased were 't crunchy golden. I suspect that pre-cooked will be reheated to order, but then it is not a commercial kitchen set up so that I will still be back.
The best bistro French restaurant in melbourne. stephan’s rossignol is coveted godliness. I missed this court especially during the lockdown. God be thanks to stephan and it's back! get some of this tasty they won't regret!
The first time we are here in 2019, was eating and service amazing. in 2022, eating and service is still amazing. her pate is indisputably the best I ever had!
Everything on the menu is so appealing, we are completely over ordered! the beautiful plate, followed by a entree and pornstar. everyone so perfect and rich. our wine was delicious. service was excellent.
Delicious and delightful in flavour, ambiance and service.
