Contribute FeedbackLeo's restaurant in Lower Gibsons offers tasty Greek fare with standout dishes like the lamb souvlaki and chicken souvlaki dinner. The calamari and garlic prawns appetizers left something to be desired, but the main dishes were impressive. The ambiance is relaxed and service generally good, despite some unpleasant interactions with staff. Prices are above average, but the food quality justifies the cost for most visitors. The restaurant has been a reliable choice for over 20 years and continues to attract customers with its delicious food and attentive service, making it a favorite dining spot in Gibsons.
This restaurant is not worth the price. I paid $25 for mostly rice and some potatoes, with only two chicken skewers and a small salad. It's only worth it if you really love rice. The baklava pieces were huge and could have been smaller to justify their high price.
Leo's Greek restaurant is one of my favourite places to dine in Gibsons BC. From the saganaki through very good pizza it always delights. There are a variety of good pizzas on the menu and the roast lamb is my wife's fave. I always have difficulty choosing between the pizza and the lasagna which is very popular.
We ordered calamari and garlic prawns as appetizers, but unfortunately, the calamari was severely overcooked and tough. The server never came back to check on us, so we reluctantly ate it. It took another 30-40 minutes for our main dishes to arrive. My father-in-law ordered the calamari dinner, which was also tough and overcooked. He sent it back, but the waitress seemed skeptical and replaced it without apologizing. The second batch was still inedible, and she offered to take it off the bill as if we were looking for a free meal. Despite these issues, the lamb dish was fantastic, and everyone else enjoyed their meals. We thanked the waitress and tipped well, as the problems were not entirely her fault. However, on our way out, she made another rude comment towards my father-in-law. Some friends who visited the same night also had a poor experience with the calamari. It's disappointing to have had this experience, as we used to love Leo's. Hopefully, it was just an issue of poor management and overbooking/understaffing. If the restaurant doesn't have enough servers, they shouldn't book the restaurant full.
Leo's is right in Gibson's Landing and is one of the restaurants actually open on Tues/Wed in September. As a result they were very busy and the wait staff were running around. Despite being stressed out, they were still smiling and friendly. The food was good and the menu has many options.
Returned to Leo's on our regular visit to visit our friend in Gibson's and had a decent meal there. It was a bit busy and understaffed, service was a little slow...but that's Gibson's for ya...!! Everything we ordered was pretty good. My wife and I shared their Saganaki.. our friend had the garlic prawns and greek salad, my wife had their greek ribs which were enjoyable she said. I had the fried calamari but was over cooked and tough, too much batter turned crunchy when deep fried and wasn't very warm when served..so that was disappointing. But overall, the visit filled the void it was intended to.. May not return again...
