After a hour drive, we finally reached Gstaad, we decided to have a coffee break in a cute little village before heading to Wispile. What Mable Schneider doesn't like about Bergrestaurant Wispile:
View all feedback.

My family and I rode the Wispile Gondelbahn (Cable Car) from Gstaad to the top of the Wispile, where this restaurant is located. The fare to ride up was about $30US per person in the summer of 2014. If you don't feel like walking to...the Gondelbahn from the city center, the Wispile bus stop is right in front of the Gondelbahn. The views going up and at the top were outstanding, and the food at the restaurant was very good. They had a traditional Swiss menu, and I had a bottle of Alpen perle with my food. We had an outdoor table with sunshade to enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains. The service was a bit slow, but the whole point is to relax and enjoy the mountaintop environment while dining. There is also an indoor dining area for other seasons. They have a nice play area for kids. There is additional hiking available around the restaurant, and we enjoyed watching the paragliders launching from the area. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant when you visit Gstaad in the summer.
Every visit back to Switzerland, I had this on the program: go up the Wispile in Gstaad and hike down the mountain. Definitively a day out I would recommend to all my friends. Sad only, that 10 years ago, I was able to enjoy a...nice oven-baked brie with truffle oil or other goodies in this restaurant, but long gone are those times. I can not understand why the owners don't make more out of this glorious location. These days you have to do with gulasch soup (possibly out of the tin sorry my negative tone here) with a dry piece of bread. OK fair enough, during the Menuhin festival, the dishes were actually quite decent, but ... Please revive this nice place and do something with it!
