Gasthof Simony Restaurant am See

This is the place for you! The food had clearly been microwaved (although given the temperature a little too hastily). Sat down, 2 minutes later arrived our mains. Beef goulash which was lukewarm, with barely edible chunks of beef and dumplings that despite being...sliced and flat surely would have bounced off the floor. Wow Hallstatt is an awful place for food all in. I would suggest only visiting for the day and taking a packed lunch with you. Massive rip off.

We came in because the restaurant had a great outdoor space looking over the lake. The seating was perfect but the food was really disappointing. We knew the food wouldn't be great but the what they served were totally overpriced. We had 4 people having 4 main dishes and the bill was 125€. Prepare some food before arriving at Hallstat because you wouldnt have many choices.

Courteous staff, good food and lovely lakeside setting. Used this restaurant several times whilst staying in Hallsstatt and the standard was consistent.

We ended up at Gastof Simony after we first asked for a table at another restaurant but they were going to sit us at a table of 4 but with another couple! Luckily we didn't have this problem at Gasthof Simony and we walked straight in to a table for two right on the lake edge. The location was just perfect and so serene with the views and swans swimming by. The food was great. Me and my husband both had pork schnitzel with potatoes. The only downside was that the service was very slow! It took a long time to be asked what we wanted to order and for the bill. We paid 36 Euro in total for our food and drinks (not including tip). Essentially, if you don't mind the slow service this place is great.
