Schach Cafe - Hamburg

This could be a really great cafe. It's situated just next to the overground station, has a wide menu and the quality of the food is good. Inside it is very dark and on a hot day can be quite claustrophobic, hence many visitors, particularly at lunchtime, would elect to sit outside in the extensive open air area. The issue is that this entire area is given over to smokers who seem to have no concept of respecting others eating. The result is an intolerable constant barrage of smoke billowing from every direction - it's like going back in time to some of the worst eras of people insisting on smoking during meals. Unbelievable, unhealthy and spoiling. Bring back healthy fresh air and make the outside area smoke free !

I just left this restaurant where myself and four other non German speaking friends had the please of eating. I think the wonderful waitress was "Katrina" but i could be wrong. She helped a ton with translating the menu as the resturants english menu was unavailable and the recommendations she made fo the 5 of us were perfect. Food was great, Beers were nice and the service could not have been better. Well be back during our stay here.

Service is slow but friendly most of the time. Food is just plain awful, and I mean you have to source everything in ketchup and mayo just to get it down. You can tell most of what end up on your plate was frozen or out of a package ... but, hey, it's cheap. It bothers me that places like this can get be so successful with such little effort.

We stumbled onto this place as we were staying at the nearby Leonardo hotel. Delicious food at good prices, friendly staff, nice beer selection, and really nice atmosphere inside. It seems to have a beer garden as well but it was raining when we went. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

I was in a hotel nearby in business trip. I went there 2 times: it's full of local, but they have also menu'in english. Good food for a good price and the waitresses are really nice and helpful. if you are in the area and you want to taste a bit of German food, I highly recommend to try this place.
