the decor is a bit dated, but this place has some of the best prices cook on the house. it is a hospitable place, with great live music karaoke nights (pre-pandemic). try their Greek poutins or their club sandwich combo! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Galley Pump:
Typical neighbourhood pub in North Hamilton. Table pamphlet lists daily menu specials as well as same owners since 1985! Meals include meatloaf, roast beef sandwiches, fish View all feedback.
Friendly staff, good place to meet solid people. When I go on Thursday nights it's always super lit ?
My gf and I went to go see the band Sylvrado last night. Before we arrived we called the bar to make sure they were playing. When we asked “is Sylvrado playing tonight?” We got hung up on. We thought maybe the line got disconnected, so we still went to go watch them. However when we arrived, the band wasn’t there. So we asked management why Sylvrado wasn’t playing tonight? Then they stated “we fired the girl who hired them to play their gigs here, so we’re cancelling all their shows.” That seems pretty ignorant and unprofessional towards the band themselves. Just because they fired the person who hired them, doesn’t mean they deserved to have their gigs cancelled. Also, the owner and manager didn’t even have the courtesy to call Sylvrado and let them know they will be cancelling their gigs. Hopefully they don’t treat other bands or their fans like this again..
I had an appointment around suppertime in the north end and as I was coming home I remembered the galley pump, I hadn't eaten there in eons so I thought I would swing by and pick up a roast beef dinner, my parents when I was in my early teens took me to the running pump downtown where I had my first draft beer (at 14) and an awesome roast beef sandwich, later in life I would stop at the galley pump to cash checks say hi to Doug the owner of both places and indulge in a few drafts as well as the roast beef, kind of nice seeing a big side of beef sitting there while they carved off a huge amount of meat for your sandwich, tasted great!.Took about 25 minutes to get my order which included a greek salad which I declined, mashed potatoes and the roast beef all for the ridicously high price of 25 bucks plus tip plus tax, I wondered if I was at the cavalier steak house. The mashed were ok nothing to write home about, the roast beef was pretty dry and chewy I couldn't see where it came from but obviously not off a standing side freshly carved I got the feeling it had been around for a while Saving grace was the gravy which was tasty and a definite requirement to swallow the roast down. All in all pretty disappointing and an insane price not a place I would ever eat at again.
I went to Tenfold with my daughter. The band was awesome, and the staff serving the drinks were really friendly. I didn't try the food, but I heard it's really good. Next time, I plan to try their famous roast beef dinner. It's a great place and I had a good time!
This restaurant serves the best food that never fails to impress. Highly recommended.
