What User doesn't like about The Grange Restaurant:
Dined here during a meeting, first time in a couple of years. The place has been freshened up with some new decor, some booths added anda couple of walls removed to make the space for roomy and inviting. Service and food was just ok, nothing write home about, but no complaints. Menu is limited but has enough variety to suit most people. View all feedback.
Ok, well this has been long time in coming. For $95 for two, within a big group for a party, it was some of the worst food we have ever had. Inedible, cold and tough, among a few choice words. The food took so long to come out; understandably that you may not have experienced this amount of people in one group, around 70(?) but that is no excuse to give us horrible tasting food. When one cannot eat the steak, something is wrong. When you take a bite into "citrus asparagus" that tasted so bitter that all the people on your table spat it out, something is wrong. When you open up a hassle-back potato and it is grey inside, something is really wrong. Also on top of everything, the service, was disgusting. How dare you treat your patrons the way you did. The manager on the night, was absolutely horrible, and the way you treated your own staff was appalling! How dare you talk to young girls trying to do their best, the way you did. As you were the restaurant and hotel manager, I cannot believe the way you treated the asian group that was staying in the hotel, the way in which you talked about them once they walked away was again, disgusting. If I had your name, I would have wrote it here, but I do not sadly.Save yourself a trip, go somewhere else.
Average meal very expensive. No trimmings. Service average. Had to ask for water. Food was not hot and had some condiments which were not cooked on plate.

The menu has sufficient variety for a small restaurant, the venue is light and comfortable. The food, however, was a bit disappointing. It all seems to be cooked in a hurry, too hot when cooking and as a result the battered fish was overcooked on the outside and just cooked inside, bacon with breakfast tends to be partly blackened (cooked too hot and too fast) even the eggs were blackened around the edges. The chef needs to understand that people are prepared to wait a few extra minutes for quality food to cook. The ingredients are of good quality and portion sizes are great. The salads could do with some reinvention - rocket, cherry tomatoes and spring onions with a bit of a vinagrette dressing - unimaginative and bland. Wish I could rate it better as the staff are great (including the chef) easy to talk too and the table service could not be faulted. Pricing is fair but the quality of the cooking could be improved
Sadly I was disappointed with the quality of the food served [Marinara] it just shouldn't have commanded the price for the quality given, pretty basic... Restaurant is light and breezy and comfortable, I chose not to have breakfast there after my experience.
