The food here is great. Fresh tasty. The crab is yum and I love that that’s is traditional yum cha in the sense that it’s rushed, busy and not for the anxious or person who doesn’t like being rushed. It’s so busy that everything is fresh which is so important.A better yum cha overall and my favourite in sydney at the moment View all feedback.
What Vergie Paucek doesn't like about The Eight Modern Chinese Restaurant:
two Australian customers served by many Chinese workers who immediately sat on a big table. spoken by chinese and when a request was made about menus and various orders, further with Chinese instead of English. always asked by servers go by...if more other unnecessary food was required to place all the “up-in-your-face” more items that were not carefully explained with. at the end with two additional tee instead of t... I've come to the Eight for Yumcha twice in the last few weeks. The first time, I came here for yumcha at 1:30pm on a weekday. There was a large variety of dishes to choose from, despite being close to the end of the yumcha session. We did not have to wait long for food to come for us, which was fantastic. The staff were friendly. Our bill came to around $95 for 4 people. <br/ <br/ My most recent visit was for lunch on a Saturday at 12:30 pm . Compared to the last time I came, there was a much longer waiting time of around 15 minutes. However, the quality of the food will keep me coming here for more! I would recommend trying this place.<br/ <br/ Food: 9/10<br/ Service: 8/10<br/ Ambience: 9/10
I’ve never been in this type of place in Sydney before. I was told it’s always busy but it’s big and you can always find a table, or wait just few minutes. When it’s less busy they move the movable walls, making the room smaller.Waitresses go around with trolleys, each one with different food and they stop to your table asking you if you want what they have on their trolley or you can skip it and choose food on the next one.Everything I ate was pretty good, a couple of things were really good.
Bad eating, edgy and sauces watered, rude staff, personal pushes on them who refuses them. long waiting times for items from the kitchen. I don't recommend it, and I'm not coming back.
The overall experience is BAD. I will not be a returning customer and I will definitely NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant. 1. Service table booking I booked a table for 6 nearly a full week before the Saturday for 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:23pm....The restaurant was full, but I could see there are customers leaving as they had finished their meals. However, the restaurant refused to give us a table or placed us in a queue for the next table when one is cleared because the rest of our group had not arrived yet. When the rest of the group arrived, it was after 7.30pm, and the person who was checking the reservation and seating the arriving customers was nowhere be found. We had to wait for another half an hour before we were being seated. What is the point of booking a table when it was not 'honoured ', and not even being considered when the next table (that can seat the group) is available??? 2. Service after we had taken our seat at the table, the woman that plate the table (that is, place the plates, bowls etc. in front of each us), she literally threw those plates and bowls to us, not attempting to walk and place them in front of us. 3. The rice we ordered was cold. How could they served cold rice. Did they even check it ? I suspected they just use some untouched rice from other orders and gave them to us! If this is the case, it was so, so , so unprofessional. Overall, if there is a negative rating, I will give them one!!!
They seated us in a timely fashion at 1.50 and the service from there was average. The dumplings were excellent, the vegies average. Then they tried to serve cold dishes to get rid of them. We had the vegies, 3 dumplings and a spring rolls...and it came to 70 dollars. RIDICULOUS. The food is overpriced and average for the price and service.
