We stayed at the Inn whilst visiting family on a bed and breakfast basis the Inn uses local produce and is excellent very well cooked and presentation. The bar area is ambient and comfortable with a fabulous fireplace. Steeped in history we would definitely recommend a visit for a lunch or evening meal or like us a stopover at this quirky little Gem. View all feedback.

We had booked a table for Sunday lunch, so the restaurant staff knew in advance what we wanted to order. Despite arriving on time, we found the food to be bland and disappointing. Those who ordered meat dishes mentioned that the pork and beef were tough, and the roast potatoes were overcooked. The portions were generous, but the lack of flavor made it unappetizing. We wondered if the food had been pre-cooked and reheated. The goat cheese salad (vegetarian option) was decent, and the desserts were enjoyable. The dining room was empty on a summer Sunday, which raised concerns. The staff were friendly and helpful, but we chose not to voice our concerns at the time.
This is a typical pub geared towards drinkers, perfect for grabbing a pint. The staff at the front of the house were very friendly, but the dining room could use some updating. There were noticeable holes in the ceiling where lights were missing, giving the place a worn-out feel. Our dinner was decent at best. The kids' burgers and chips looked good if you're in the mood for a hearty meal. The curry dish was flavorful but the sauce was too thin, and it was served plain with a side of rice and a small portion of Daal. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I felt like I could have made a better meal at home. Dining out should be a special experience, and this fell short of expectations. I would return for a drink, but the food didn't impress me.
We booked a table for 4 and sat in the lovely garden, fish and chips were fantastic and the pie was delicious, hot, fresh , massive portions. Would highly recomend, you won't be disapointed !
My husband and I had a good evening meal at the Portway Inn. I tried the tarragon chicken and my husband had Cod Olive Tampanade. Both dishes were good portions and delicious
We were staying close by, so decided to give this place a go. Called in and booked in advance for an evening meal for 4, three coeliacs in our party. They rose to the challenge very well and we had a lovely meal. Social distancing was observed which was great in these unusual times. Definitely recommend this place
