Hubby and I were staying in Hinton over night and wanted a nice dinner. This was well worth the drive ( about 20 min through hail and rain) from Hinton. The service was great and the dinner was the best I've had in a long while. Their attention to detail is evident in the beautiful plating and the quality of the meals they serve. I will be back! We stayed here for three days. The room was spacious with a beautiful mountain view, but the walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors. There was no A/C, but we could open the window. The noise from passing cars and trucks was bothersome at night. Unfortunately, the restaurant was a major disappointment. Our cocktail took 15-20 minutes to arrive, and we waited over an hour for our food. When our waiter finally checked on us, he realized he had forgotten to place our order in the kitchen. We left without eating, as it was already 9pm and closing time. Luckily, we ordered takeout from Jasper Pizza Place, which was excellent. We had a reservation for dinner the next day, and were seated promptly, but there was a used napkin on the floor. Attention to detail like this is important and reflects the quality of service. The following day, we left early as we couldn't wait to leave. The scenery in the area was beautiful, located just 40 minutes from Jasper Downtown and overlooking Jasper National Park. If you choose to eat here, be sure to only receive your food if they forget to serve you.
The Alberta tenderloin was excellent. My dining companion had the venison which was also quite exceptional and delicious too! Our server Shayna, while quite busy was able to still chat and take care of everything and everyone quickly! We really enjoyed the food and views.
First of all you cannot beat the location of the Overlander Mountain Lodge in Hinton. Just outside the eastern park gate to world famous Jasper National Park, this lodge has been a delight for decades. The view over the Athabasca valley is breathtaking. Now you add a first class chef with a restaurant that is worth every single penny spent. The menu is contemporary and changing to reflect seasonal harvest with some staple classics. We try to make it to Stone Peak Restaurant as often as we can when travelling out to the mountains. We love to combine it with a visit to the near by hot springs at Miette. The service is attentive and the food ouotstanding. The wine list extensive and offering great finds to pair with any kind of food that you might be tempted to try.We highly recommend this restaurant. Go and treat yourself to some outstanding food with a most gorgeous environment. There are also several outdoor seating possibilities for either cocktails or after dinner drinks. There is a beautiful bar with a fireplace for the nights when it gets a bit cooler and during winter visits.Next time you're heading to Jasper turn right first at Overlander Mountain Lodge for an unforgettable dinner experience.
The dinner delivered all that we expected and wanted from this dining room. Butter Chicken for him and Arctic Char for her; awesome on both counts.
