Been awhile since our last visit but some things never change… the food and service is always very good. The garlic king prawns and Chairman Mao pork were amazing and the duck lettuce wraps and lamb dumplings to kickstart dinner were excellent. Service was quick and professional Look forward to next visit View all feedback.
What Gayle Bosco doesn't like about Mu Lan Restaurant:
We ordered from here after reading they where in the top 5 dumplings in Hobart. I would hate to try the other 4 because this was one of the worst meals I've had. I don't mean to be rude but I love dumplings and Chinese food and we eat alot of it. Plain mince only in the spring rolls, what tasted like the prawn dumplings you buy in a packet in the supermarket, burnt dried up rice that smelt like curry powder and chick... View all feedback.
Uninspired by flavours, this was my second time at Mu Lan. The chicken and corn soup was tasty as it should be, but the salt & pepper tofu and the chicken salad were not to my liking. Service was lovely. I wont be back, too many other choices in Hobart these days.
I usually love this spot, but it was a bit of Lustling this week. I ordered the Singapore noodles, but they lacked taste and content to be honest. There were shrimps and sweet pork, but the vegetables was very light. For the entree we shared the mini-vegetarian spring rolls, but my were still cold in the middle. The waiter apologized and did not charge us for them, but given the usual quality we were really disappointed. My dinner had the lambs pancakes that were beautifully done and presented. Usually you are really fast with the meals for those of us who apply early for a state cinema film, but it was well over 30 minutes for the two meals and we were the only ones there. Normally I stand with the three-shot chicken and maybe I'll try the next month again, but otherwise underwalled and not impressed sighs!
Mu Lan's service, food, setting is excellent all the time. Their Yum Cha is delicious and has a good variety. Well worth a visit anytime.
Return visit. While our previous Yam Cha lunch was good, dinner this time was somewhat disappointing. The service was somewhat rushed and the choice of meals predictable and uninspired standard Chinese cuisine. My pork belly was drowned in soy sauce and chewy (!), not was I was expecting from pork belly. The fried rice was bereft of any herbs or spices and bland. For around $30 for a main a bit to steep for the ordinary quality on offer. Won't be back.
We arrived early. Thought it was open throughout the day, but it was not. Dinner session only starts at 5.30pm.We ordered a lamb dumpling, yearling eye fillet in black bean sauce, sweet and sour pork, egg plant and 3 shots chicken. All of them were good to the point where we finished up even the sauce. For my parents who are avid lover of Chinese food, it was a welcome change after eating many days of western cuisine. If you are looking for a nice Chinese food in Hobart without burning a hole in your pocket, this place is worth considering!
