Contribute FeedbackBirch Restaurant offers a unique and lively atmosphere with a mix of positive and negative reviews. Some guests were disappointed with the service, loud music, and lack of outdoor seating for brunch. However, others had a great experience celebrating special occasions with bottle service and excellent staff. The food, drinks, and ambiance received praise from most diners, with a few mentioning minor issues such as panhandlers outside. Overall, Birch seems to be a vibrant spot for those looking to enjoy good food, drinks, and music in a fun and energetic setting.
Called this place in the afternoon and when i was on my way I had to call 3 times because the hostess couldn't find my name. 3rd time is a charm! She then said oh.... here you are Came to this place to celebrate a friends bday. Hubs and I arrived first. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria and that tasted good. The music in the background was nice and the waitress Valerie seemed nice. Off to a great start. My friend arrived so we switched from Sangria pitchers to Mojito pitchers. The Mojito pitchers were weak, so we told Valerie too add more liquor. She came back and I literally had to nurse my drink for a very long time because it was way too strong. Like unbearably strong. So what was I supposed to do? Send it back? We baby sat our a drink for a while. We decided to order. I ordered the sampler. Which consisted of Shrimp in Garlic with a fresco cheese please remove the cheese and use real shrimp next time, not frozen) It also had beef tacos, the beef was so tough and really overcooked, the chorizo was poppin and the beef from the empanada was too sweet. Hubs had the churrasco with rice and beans and that was ok, nothing crazy, my friend had the same and she said parts of her churrasco were medium and other parts so cooked it tasted like leather. Here comes the effed up part.... After spending $300 on what I like to call mediocre dining at its best we moved over to the next room so that they turn that room into a lounge which converts at about 10pm or so. We went back to the @lounge/dining room, found a high table and put our jackets on while we order drinks and dance. We were told to move because that was a bottle service table. Mind you we were the only patrons that ended up staying after dinner, so let me get this straight you rather give a table to someone who will prob order one bottle for $150 or give it to someone who was here prior, paid for dinner, and will continue to pay for more drinks? Oh.... did I mention that when we went to the other room while your lounge was converting, we ordered 3 round of shots and spent another $150? So $450 down the drain and you tell us to move? So of course my husband and my friends boyfriend ask to speak to a manager and 3 bouncers appear. What are your bouncers trying to do carry us all out? Intimidate us? I mean what? Its bullying at its finest if you ask me. They we get this bottle service girl with her Nalga Larga trying to convince us to purchase a bottle. We are not doing that because this place sucks and you need to put clothes on! We chilled by the bar and when I went to use the ladies room I was confused as to what which bathroom to enter. I asked the wannabe muscle bafoon of a bouncer which one was the ladies and this loser had the audacity to scream at me and talk down to me. I quickly responded who the hell are you talking to like that? I just asked you a damn question. I was so annoyed by this place completely. I am the least impressed by this establishment and will be sure to share my experience with everyone. I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere. You are getting one star because your bday celebrations are bananas and very live! That was my very fave part of the entire night!
We visited the restaurant for a Sunday birthday brunch with a group of ten people. Our server, Eddie (or Eddy?), warmly greeted us and each guest as they arrived. The brunch was priced at $35, which included two hours of unlimited mimosas, bellinis, and manmosas, along with an entrée. Eddie made sure our pitchers were always full throughout the meal. I ordered the churrasco, cooked rare, with sunny-side-up eggs, and it was served alongside a generous portion of black beans and Spanish rice. The food arrived hot and was cooked exactly as I requested. Everything was perfectly seasoned and didn’t need any extra salt or sauce.
This is the second-best Cuban restaurant in Hoboken. The sangria is excellent and reasonably priced. I've visited twice on Saturday evenings and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing, and as I mentioned, the drinks are fantastic too. It's a great spot for a date night or to catch up with a friend over drinks. After 10 PM on Saturdays, the party starts, and things really get lively. Definitely worth a visit!
Ever go to a restaurant thinking it 's another restaurant and it 's too late to get up and leave because you don 't want to be that person ? Well this is basically my story on a Friday night. I searched up Cuban food in the area and mistakenly went to the wrong Cuban restaurant. Yes, silly me. Any who, onto the food, drinks and overall experience. A solid 3/5. The nicest thing for me at this particular restaurant was the intimate set up. The dimly lit candles, the music and the overall ambiance. Walking into the restaurant, you 're immediately greeted by a friendly host. We were asked if we had reservations and even though we didn 't, it wasn 't a problem and we were seated immediately. After being seated it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and greet up. Mistake number one! After we were finally greeted, we were told bread would be out shortly (and if by shortly you mean 20 minutes, UH OKAY) Weird enough, the bread might 've been worth the wait SUPER GOOD and made to perfection. I know, I know it 's just bread and carbs (OMG) I 'll calm down now. Wait, I don 't even think we were asked what we wanted to drink for another 10 minutes and the mediocre drinks (a white sangria for myself and a corona for the hubs) were def not worth the wait. As you can see, service here is practically non existent. And maybe after 40 minutes we finally had our dinner. I ordered the Vaca Frita crispy, twice cooked flank steak, sliced thin, onions and dressed with fresh lime wedge and two sides .. tostones and sautéed asparagus. The steak was completely dry, the asparagus wasn 't the best also. Despite that, portions were fairly great. Personally, I just couldn 't get over the steak stuck in my throat with every bite. The steak also lacked a lot of flavor. Perhaps because it was cooked twice. My tostones were a hit and were quickly devoured. For what we paid, I def didn 't think this restaurant was worth it. The service was a huge let down and the food didn 't make up for it at all. In the wake of my less than satisfied experience here I probably wouldn 't return.
I've probably enjoyed weekend brunch at Coco Havana more than anywhere else in Hoboken. The service is friendly and has a warm atmosphere, deserving of 4 stars. The pace is relaxed, giving you at least 90 minutes to enjoy unlimited pitchers of mimosas, sangrias, and more—plenty of time to have a delightful buzz in the afternoon! We've sampled all the pitchers, but we keep returning to the mimosas. The brunch dishes are reasonably priced and offer a variety of Cuban specialties. The Cuban Egg sandwiches are tasty, and I recommend the Steak Eggs. However, the skirt steak comes cut thin, so regardless of how you order it, it tends to be well done (I've tried ordering medium rare and rare several times). We just go with it. The sides are great, and I particularly enjoy their black beans. Plus, the unlimited mimosas! What more could you ask for on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon?
