Horseshoe - Hopkinsville

It was our first visit. We were able to walk right in at 4pm. Our waitress was good. The steaks were good after we finally got them. Somehow our order for our steaks got lost. And we were definitely there at lot longer than we anticipated. They did without asking knocked off an amount on our bill because of their mistake. The steaks were truly a prime cut of meat. They were cooked good. Could have used a little more seasoning or marinating. Baked potato was loaded and good. And our salad was good.

The restaurant can feel a bit crowded, dimly lit, and noisy at times. However, the waitstaff genuinely seem to care about your dining experience. The food ranges from very good to excellent; while I found the steaks to be a touch bland, they are incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. The baked potato is exceptionally well-prepared, unlike typical baked potatoes you find elsewhere. This place retains the charm of a classic 50s and 60s steakhouse, where you can enjoy good food, a beer, and catch up with friends. The prices are slightly higher than those at chain restaurants, but the quality of the food, service, and portion sizes far exceeds what you’d find there; my wife and I always leave with enough leftovers for a second meal. Parking can be tight, and there’s often a wait to get a table, but it’s absolutely worth it. Once you dine here, you’ll remember it and likely return for more.

I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered the grilled mushrooms, and they turned out to be the rubbery canned variety rather than fresh, and they weren't even warm. My friend ordered a salad, but the bacon bits were imitation. The filet was below average, and the side dishes arrived late. The restaurant was very dark and overcrowded, with far too many tables crammed in. In case of an emergency, it would be a complete disaster. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and experience just weren't worth even a third of the $100 bill I paid for two people. A valuable lesson learned.

Good food, yet another steak house that doesn't understand how or refuses to cook a steak to a specific temperature 135 to 140 is my preference. They demand I order a 30+ dollar steak by vocabulary words. In this case medium rare, but it comes barely pink 70% of the time *sighs* Please make it make sense.

Great food and prices. Wish it had more tables because there is no doubt these would stay full.
