Patrons rave about the rich mocha latte and delicious breakfast tacos, highlighting the use of quality ingredients. The ambiance features both indoor and outdoor seating, although its proximity to a busy road can detract from the experience. While some dishes shine, like the flavorful skirt steak bowl, others may fall short, indicating room for menu improvements. Despite minor complaints about cleanliness and service speed, the overall experience promises a satisfying culinary visit.
Blacksmith is easily in the top 5 of my favorite coffee shops. Between the food and the coffee everything is perfectly crafted and delicious. In particular I loved the breakfast tacos and the pancakes. There is a ton of parking in the back and a decent amount of seating. On the weekends it can get a bit busy but I never saw anyone waiting for a table for more than a couple minutes.
Excellent beverages that are not loaded with sugar or cover up the true taste of matcha or coffee. The oatmeal sando was also delicious and tasted homemade. Nothing too special about the breakfast/lunch dishes. (Not pictured)
Came in for Sunday brunch date and had a good time Dress code: casual Food: 5/5 I got their skirt steak bowl with an egg added and my partner got the smoked salmon dill scramble. Bowl was super flavorful with plenty of steak and a creamy egg on top. Salmon was delicious as well. Partner also got a cappuccino with oat milk which was beautiful and delicious. Service: 4/5 like most brunch places, order at counter, pick your seat and food is brought out to you. Took a bit for food to come out and almost had food cleared when both of us stepped away for a second but no major complaints Ambiance 4/5: fairly tight fit and some of the tables didn't seem dirty per se but not super clean either. Got pretty crowded as the place filled up and pretty loud. Value: 4/5 generally pretty good value on the food, likely would come back every once in a while to get the bowl again. Parking: parking lot, had plenty of spots when we got there but I imagine might be a bit harder to find spots as it gets busy.
I came to Blacksmith a few years ago. It was a nice little cozy spot tucked away on a corner. The front of the building seemed to be under construction. Parking was in the back. The ambiance inside had the feel of a study hall. Hipster vibes. It was quiet and not a lot of conversations in the air. The wait in line was a bit long. After ordering I sat down. The seating felt a little awkward and tables felt really close. Not an issue but an observation nonetheless. I sampled the Vietnamese Steak and Eggs, Smoked Salmon Dill Scramble, Biscuit with cream fraiche and jam and Silver Platter Chilaquiles. Of the four, I preferred the Smoked Salmon Dill Scramble. The salmon had a great smokey flavor and the eggs were fluffy. It was a good combination. The biscuit was delicious! The Vietnamese steak and eggs were not bad but if you've had bò né at a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston, then you know this is not the same. Very good but not great. Still not a bad dish. The chilaquiles did leave something to be desired. They tasted good but just not what I'd expect from chilaquiles in an authentic Mexican restaurant. It was probably my least favorite of everything I ate there. Everything tasted good for a neighborhood cafe. The coffee was really good. Nice and strong! I enjoyed it. If you're looking for a quiet place to chill or just relax while drinking coffee, this is a great place to do it.
They may have changed their menu. We enjoyed the cappuccino and breakfast bowl. The salmon dill was not a favorite but if you like dill/pickles this might be for you :
