We really enjoyed our meal here. We had the lobster deviled eggs that we absolutely delicious, then we shared an iceberg slab salad. We each had filet steaks which was cooked perfectly. The skillet potatoes were unbelievable good. We then finished with the chocolate caramel torte. Wow Our first time to this restaurant but when we return to Houston it will on our revisit list. What Michael Schuett doesn't like about Pappas Bros. Steakhouse - Downtown:
The restaurant was slammed but the staff was still GREAT. The food was definitely no worth the price, ribeye was VERY fatty and chewy. Sides were ok but nothing to rave about. Best part of the meal was the dessert, pecan pie. View all feedback.
Wonderful! Portions are quite large. Everything is so good!
This was a a very disappointing experience. We had expected so much due to the high ratings Pappas Bros. seems to always receive. Excellent decor, lovely ambience but horrible steak. Billed as Prime , the ribeye cuts must have been the lowest grade of Prime. I have had Choice cuts that were superior. Possibly, a supplier slipped in some seconds to the beef order or a bad night in the kitchen. The meat was prepared to the proper temperature but was tough and dense.
While the wait staff and food was outstanding I was a little disappointed when we were seated. Our reservation was 7:30 for 8 guests. I and one guest arrived early, 7:05. We let the host know we were here and would wait at the bar until the rest of our party arrived. We waited at the bar having a couple of drinks. Our entire party arrived at around 7:40.I informed the host we were ready. She told us our table wasn't ready and that they were waiting for a party to finish their meal so they could get the table ready. We waited another 10 minutes and the table still wasn't ready. My manager made a comment that that was bad service, not having our table ready when it was almost 8:00. I have high expectations at a restaurant like Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. You met all my expectations except for being seated extremely late.
Went to celebrate the special occasion of my wife’s birthday…told them when making reservation as well upon arrival…clearly stated. Well, no little treat, no candle, no anyting. My wife is a kind, gentle sole and as we were leaving said “That as really sh@tty on their part. I agree.
We arrived 20 minutes early. they asked us to wait a few minutes while the table was suggested. I was a little sceptical because we were there early and there was not much action. as it turned out that they rearrange the table by placing a nearby lamp away and flowers, it was obvious that, as we realized that it was a date night on our reservation, they added some “Grace Notes” to add a special feeling for the evening. that was our second, but by no means last visit. bravo.
