Contribute FeedbackThe Fat Hen offers a combination of true Lowcountry dishes and French cuisine that is worth the drive. The exceptional food includes dishes like shrimp and grits, Coq au Vin, and fried green tomatoes, along with great wine deals. The cozy restaurant, despite being out of the way on Johns Island, provides a wonderful dining experience. The grilled okra, shrimp and crab, and pluff mud cake are standout items. The service was friendly and attentive, making for a great overall meal. Highly recommended for visitors to the area looking for an excellent dining option.
I ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was awful. The meatloaf was as thick as a slice of bread the potatoes were too thin and the collards had way too much vinegar in them. The place is so dark that you can barely see your food. The prices are way too high. I am a local here on Johns Island and I have given this place at least three chances. All of them were disappointing. I won't be going here again.
Love the Fat Hen it never disappoints us!!! The food and service are always perfect!
Outstanding service, wide variety menu and top quality dishes. Our favorite Charleston area dining !
We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Also, our server was not the best. He kept forgetting items and needed to be reminded what we were fairing on.
We enjoyed our dinner so much at the Fat Hen that we ended up having lunch brunch on the way out of town. We stayed at the Sanctuary and arrived a day before our gang so we went off Island for a little local flavor.
