Contribute FeedbackChutney offers a diverse menu with vegan options, but fails to deliver authentic Indian flavors. Dishes like Malai Kofta and Murgh Malai Tikka were dry and lacked taste. Customer complaints of undercooked food, overpricing, and small portions were common. However, some enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and efficient service. Those seeking true Indian cuisine may find Chutney lacking, but others appreciate the variety and friendliness of the restaurant. Despite mixed reviews, there were a few shining moments of exceptional service and delicious dishes.
I'm always apprehensive when eating Indian food as most restaurants tend to get too carried away with the amount of oil they use. Not here!! I was quite impressed with the chicken biryani and chicken curry. Flavourful and delicious without being oily. Also had the potato nan which paired perfectly with the curry. Waitress was attentive and checked up on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!
We ordered Tandoori vegetables, Malai Kofta, chana and Black Lentil Dal. Malai Kofta were good but Chana were bit undercooked and hard. Gravy was also not that tasty. They served gravy with tandoori Vegetables but it was same as for Malai Kofta, exactly same. They should have served mint chutney with the same. Service was quick but not as good as we experienced in other parts of BC.
After doing a google search on Indian restaurant in Kelowna we went this restaurant on 3rd July Monday. From appetizer to dessert whatever we ate was either row or over cooked or stinking. Tandoori chicken was mixed with old and new pieces. We were asked to rate spice level between 1 to 6, so we ordered level 2 since we had kids with us. But everything we got on our table was very spicy. Out of 8 of us 6 had terrible stomach problems within one hour of consuming food. Rest two were toddlers so luckily they didn't eat anything. We had to wait more than 20 minutes for running order of naan breads and by the time we got them our appetite was gone. We are Indian and we know taste of real Indian food. This wasn't at all food but a way to make us fool and rip our money. There was no solution to our complaints specifically about too spicy food as we were told it's their standard for spice level 2. So friends stay away from this restaurant and save your money, more importantly save your health. I wish I would have saved those food pieces and report them to city of Kelowna but unfortunately we had time boundation and had to leave for home next morning. In short a BIG NO for this restaurant.
I'm giving this review 3 out of 5 rating because typically this restaurant is amazing but I was completely appalled by the service recently. A friend and I came in for dinner, we were greeted by a gentleman and was seated right away. Because my friend and I love this restaurant we knew what our order was without even looking at the menu. After being seated the female server just sat at the bar on her phone. When she finally did come to our table she just stood there staring at us. No, Hi, How are you or What can I get you today. Just literally just stood there staring at us. We gave her our drink orders and got some more blank stares, so we continued with our food order. She left without saying anything. The male gentleman is the one that we dealt with mostly but only after the female server wouldn't wait on us. We literally talked to her twice, she took our order and She came back well into our meal to ask how everything was and we asked for more drinks. We literally watched her walk to the bar and go back on her phone. It was well over 10 min before the male gentleman brought us our drinks. This female server was cold and I couldn't believe she could just stand around and be on her phone. She didn't care about her tables or the service she gave. I heard her say she wanted to go home and gave attitude when asked to do tasks before she went. She constantly rolled her eyes and stomped around like a little child. She was in a rush to leave and ended up breaking a glass because of it. The male gentleman that was serving us was outstanding. After the horrible service from the girl I think he realized she wasn't going to be any help and stepped up. He came around and refilled our waters, packed up our food and actually asked how anything was. He brought our second round of drinks and took payment for our meal. I hope the tip we left went straight into his pocket and not into hers. The food as always was amazing and very speedy from ordering to getting to the table. Of course this was delivered by the male gentleman. I usually have nothing but high praise for this restaurant and will continue to but I sure hope they rethink about some of their serving staff.
Although the food is always good the service was too slow. Seated at 7:00, dinner arrived at 8:00. No apologies. We will try somewhere else next time.
