Beautiful setting in the porch overlooking the gardens in an elegant heritage home while eating European style menu items. It is difficult to find restaurants who serve crepes; however this one has plenty to choose from. The "Special" includes a starter, an entree and a modest, tasty dessert. We had a delicious mushroom soup and a Caesar salad along with two different crepe choices. They were very good although a bit... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Guisachan House:
We had booked a table for 7 for lunch. This was an meal we had planed as a family after my father-in-laws funeral. We were rudely greeted by a waitress. We were eventually served after having to go look for said waitress, that had snapped "I'll be there in a minute" on request of service. When the food did eventually show, the plates, 4 of the seven had chips in them, big chips and more than 1. Two of our party had t... View all feedback.
Can't say enough good about this venueBeautiful heritage building and grounds, intimate location.
My daughter took me here today as a surprise, and what a surprise it turned out to be. The garden is STUNNING before you even get inside, the inside is
We were guests at a wedding at the Guisachan historic property and had a meal in the house restaurant. The soups (mushroom and tomato) were both very good, a huge fresh salad and the salmon dinner were all excellent. Staff and servers were very attentive and friendly. The tables were set up for fine dining and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
George does classic German food in this fine restaurant. This is suitable for weddings in the garden and a meal after.
It all started so well, nice setting, excellent server, 3 course lunch for 17 dollars, and the first course of soup was very nice as was the house made dessert to finish. But the main course derailed so badly I thought I was in an episode of Ramsey's kitchen nightmares. I literally had to take a moment not to laugh or to look around for cameras when the main I ordered ended up in front of me. I had the naan bread with poached eggs ,hollandaise and ham(basically eggs Benny on naan). What came out was what I can only describe as a train wreck. Some round packaged thick form of bread which isn't close to any naan bread I have ever had, topped by a layer of butter that I can only assume was meant to cook off and brown the naan but apparently got missed and coated everything between the bread and the ham instead, but in raw form. But that is minor in comparison to the fluid that was on top of the entire dish(except the eggs as it had no viscosity and had flowed to every corner of the plate). Hollandaise fluid is what I will call it, as it wasn't a sauce at all, and this basic mother sauce was literally water and melted butter on the plate. I should have taken a picture and sent it to the first year culinary students at the college of what not to send out to a customer. Butter was unclarified and small lumps in the liquid. The whole plate was swimming in liquid. Now I'll give the location a two based on the starter, the dessert, and the server and price point and if the main was good they probably would get a 4/5 but whomever was running the line that day(sept14 at 11:15 am) needs to know to never let that leave the kitchen....ever..... Should have just told me that the sauce split and I would have gladly accepted that. Instead I got to right this colourful review. Hope they take it to heart and make some corrections. In the meantime, if you dine at this location, do not order anything with hollandaise!!!!
