We had lunch at the Restaurant du Port. It looked to be a popular place among the locals. We started with fish soup/prawns and whelks. Then we both had Papayette de Mer Rouge (Red sea papaya? , a nice fish but clearly not local. Finished off with creme brûlée. That was on the €16.70 menu. Friendly service View all feedback.
What Matthew Espinoza doesn't like about Restaurant Du Port:
This restaurant sits, as its name suggests, on the port. It is the first one sees on leaving the carpark on the port. Four of us attempted to eat there during a stay in June. We arrived at 13:30 for lunch and our waitress said she would check to ensure that the kitchen staff would serve us lunch. On hearing that they would deign to serve us, we chose drinks but before we could order were told that the menu of the day... View all feedback.
Tuesday evening in September and every other restaurant was shut. Luckily a warm welcome was waiting for us at the Restaurant du Port. The view was great, the service was excellent and the food was very good indeed. The Cesar Salad was one of the best I have had anywhere in France. All in all a very pleasant and reasonably priced place to spend the evening.
I wonder if anything was prepared in house at all…. Products that came out of the freezer or from a box or out of a tin can. The “ile flottant” was clearly bought in a supermarket. Shame ! A tourist trap !
Called in on a rainy weekend, place was full all locals which boded well. Menu du jour and blackboard specials were reasonalbly priced (three courses for about £12 for the former, plenty of choice, all who ate enjoyed). Husband chanced one of the specials which we translated as a mix of seafood and ham, and indeed was mussels, razor clams, prawns and parma ham all served with pickled vegetables which he wolfed down and declared to be a taste sensation and that the chef was a genius ! Really friendly staff, excellent quick service and very attentive. Was so good we returned later in the week and sampled their whitebait (all the locals were having this with an aperetif) which was excellent, Oysters which evoked the sea and were delicious, then a seafood platter including crab, langoustine, prawn etc which would have cost £80 100 for two in the UK but cost about £30 here. Childrens menu very french small portions of the adult menu and the obligatory burger and chips (being French, no bap, cooked rare if you dont ask for well done). Would very highly recommend.
Went there on Tripadvisor recommendations and was not disappointed. We arrive just before midday and there was several couples looking at the menus outside. By 12:15 about 10 tables were occupied out side, but this is quiet a big restaurant and there was still a couple of tables free even when we left. We chose from the €16.5 three course menu, but there was cheaper and dearer ones. The service was friendly, efficient and the sea food good quality.
Had a lovely lunch here after a long weekend on the island. The staf were very efficient and friendly and there was a good choice of fish dishes on the menu. We chose the menu du jour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was well presented, ample and good value for money. Unfortunately it was too windy to enjoy the lovely terrace overlooking the sea.
