Contribute FeedbackThis charming Leicester gem is a favorite among locals, offering a wide range of fresh fish specials that are simply amazing. While the interior may be a bit tired and the staff could be more friendly, the accommodating service makes up for it, especially for those with little ones in tow. The menu offers delicious traditional dishes, though service can be inconsistent at times. However, the attentive wait staff, including standout team members Amber, Pedro, Lene, Joice, and Sergio, ensure a wonderful dining experience. The cozy atmosphere and prompt, tasty food make this restaurant a must-visit, with dishes like zucchini fritte and penne arrabbiatta receiving high praise. Overall, this Italian spot provides a pleasant dining experience and great value for money.
Above average. A bit pricey but you certainly get quality ingredients, good cooking and good service No trouble recommending this
Amazing restaurant our favourite in Leicester. Food is very good with wide range of fresh fish specials. While not always the friendliest of places they've always been v accomodating even when we've turned up with two babies though no children's menu not a family venue).
We have booked with friends lunch and were very excited about a special meal. we ordered wein and cocktails before the selection of starters and netzen, three of us ordered the lobster tagliolini, one of which was gluten-free, the only difference is the gf pasta. My...was the gf lobster tagliolini, immediately I noticed that the dish tasted incredibly salty, similar to a mouthful seawater, I ate a few forks of food and asked my friends when they were salty to whom they agreed but seemed to enjoy their food, so I had another mouthful of me and could not have about saltiness. I asked my friends who had the same dish to taste mine and they were shocked how salty it was compared to her. I mentioned one of the waiter that eating was so salty that I could not eat it further, he took my court to the manager who came by, I explained again that it was so salty that I could not eat it and he said that I had eaten the lobster dick and then asked why I had eaten some of the pasta when it was so salty and why I had not said anything earlier to remove his whole pound the rest of the eating was “okay”, the general feeling is that they are not proud of eating they serve and they are certainly not made to feel like an estimated customer, there are so many better Italian restaurants where they really take care of their experience and repeat business I would san carlo leicester a miss!
Almost every court I had was disappointing. the bruschetta was badly seasoned, the tasting of only cut tomato on dry brot with old rocket. there were visible crimsons, but she didn't have a taste. the lobster in the avocado bernardo was dry and boring and the seasonal. could have benefited from a generous addition of sumac. it was just a well-presented Prawn cocktail that was too big for a starter. the 5 grilled fish specialties were 4 dry overcooked servings of super market fish cuts and a good grilled garnel that had been touched (formerly by seasoning). who on earth serves tuna steak well done?! at least I would have paired it with a dry white wine. the desert was good, well presented. I'm still waiting for my bill, after I asked for one, a very laborious situation when I was eating alone.
I was in italian several times and what I like is that we as vegetarian have never tried to find decent meals, even in small villages, in comparison to frankly and Spanish, where meat/fish dominate. that was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised. with all the experience. I was comprehensible to visit a restaurant that is part of a chain, as these often have no authenticity. They usually go to oggi, but this was recommended by daughter and I trust her when it comes to eating. I went on a Monday night, so it was hardly busy. the tables are arranged at a reasonable distance. good lighting and the owners have tried their best to give him a Mediterranean atmosphere. the personal was friendly. Eat arrived right away. insalata caprese had very beautifully spiced avocado discs and tomats with decent portions of mozzarella. zucchini fritte was crunchy, just needed a little more salt. bruschetta well seasoned. calzone vegetarier was big enough for two of us to share. the crust tasted beautiful and not too thick. accompanying tomato sauce was really delicious. my companions had penne arrabbiatta a d canneloni with spinat ricotta. I don't like it when the past is boiled to al dente. here was the strength right. the tiramisu was also beautiful. I had a peroni beer and others had wein. wein is expensive for a fairly standard wine, but so is any restaurant. I wish they would bring customers their bottle for a moderate cork fee. the tables have paper towels and some can find that cheap, but I am more interested in food than posh schirr or servietten. our table was a bit tacky and a nice young man tried to repair it with a folded piece of paper under a table leg, but it did not last long and we had to be a little bit careful. the personal was nice. I am aware that on Monday the restaurant was half full and the service and the wait on a weekend evening may deteriorate. bill was not shocked, in contrast to ave mario in london. I don't like the American service character being added automatically, but since the experience was nice, so it didn't notice. most likely will return.
