The restaurant, now called Saigon, is still operated by Oishii's former owner Tony. It now offers delicious Vietnamese cuisine and beer. It is recommended to bring cash as they do not accept cards. View all feedback.
What Драгица Пищовколева doesn't like about Oishii:
Really disappointed with some sushi I ordered as a takeaway from Oishii last night. Horrid clammy, heavy, starchy rice. More like the consistency of mashed potato or something! Rolls that fell apart with badly cut pieces of salmon with the brown parts still on inside. The Nigiri was no better, with thick uneven pieces of salmon laid over the same incipid rice. Couldnt eat it, money down the drain. This isnt the first... View all feedback.
OK, I admit, I don't think there are any other sushi restaurants in Streatham. Seriously though, Oishii is good. And not just for sushi they do a nice mixture of Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai. The sushi is fresh and tasty and the noodle dishes are great; service is excellent and the slightly weird American-diner style decor adds to the experience. It's also really good value. Highlights are the sushi and the yaki soba is damn good. It's usually full of cute couples having romantic meals for two. A highlight of Streatham Hill! They also give you sweets at the end of the meal, which is really exciting because some of them are really tasty (like coconut flavour) and some are HORRIBLE (like, cough medicine). Exciting!

As a final insult the prices on the website were less than the price I was actually charged. Avoid! Avoid!
As you may know, I have an unhealthy liking for very bad chinese take-aways, so imagine my disappointment when presented with some of the prettiest, tastiest food I've eaten in any Chinese/Japanese based restaurant in London so far. Such an enchanting wee place with plenty of atmos friendly staff and groovy porcelain cats. I particularly love the red seafood curry but anything from the sashimi menu is welcome and an equal diligence is paid to your take-away as well. Whenever we order at home, it feels like a little piece of Oishii is packed into their delightful little parcels. A bento box of Streatham fun. Oh, and poisonedlikeashark... there is another... Slurp and it's their turn next.
I'd definitely agree with patheticshark here and second everything they've said Oishii is great, whether eating in or taking away. They have a very diverse menu, with everything from sushi to ramen to yakisoba and vietnamese specialities as well. Their salads are excellent, and the seafood red curry comes highly recommended. The staff are always so friendly and we make a point of coming here often. They deliver as well, with orders over A really lovely additon to Streatham Hill.
This is a modern and contemporary Japanese restaurant. The food is absolutely outstanding and at a good price. A must try restaurant.
