The restaurant is in a old house on Long Boat Key. There is a big parking lot in the rear. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks. Enjoyed an elegant dinner with my wife. We had excellent drinks, martinis and old fashion. The fried green tomatoes were very good with a slight spicy taste. We enjoyed out Waldorf salad before dinner. I had the house speciality, the duck. Not as good as I remembered it. Table was terrible despite being an empty room when we arrived for our reservation. Waiter refused to move us. If it wasn’t a holiday meal with friends I would have left. Food was not up to the standards of the recent past. I will not return. There are too many good restaurants in town to try them again. Brian our server was excellent. He explained a few things and reserved a table upstairs for our desserts. We also were served upstairs by Teal where we also received excellent service. We were celebrating two couples wedding anniversaries
There’s a staff member at a station who seems to be there to specifically make Caesar salad in the dining room but there’s no show of it, it’s not done tableside and it tasted like a standard Caesar salad, nothing special. Not sure what the point of that setup is. My husband’s snapper had something so hard inside of it he thought he bit into glass. And they do not know how to make an old fashioned, a pretty typical drink that most dining establishments can make very well. Very nice ambiance but the rest is just so-so for the price
Lovely birthday dinner. One of our party had cold mashed potatoes with his duck. Other than that everything was very good
4.67 total. 3 of us at haye praises for dessert and coffee. the French press was good. apfel nussbaum crumble cake with ice was massive enough for 2 reviews.
Old fashion fl restaurant service was brusque and not refined they have an established clientele that loves the place. imo everything is overlaid and.
