I am usually pretty good at picking the best thing on the menu when I try a restaurant for the firs time. This time, not so much. I loved the shrimp spring rolls, which are supposed to be served cold in case you were wondering... They are hard to find in this town! However, I didn't ask enough questions about other menu items and ended up with a chicken and broccoli rice dish that tasted like pot roast. It wasn't bad... View all feedback.
Wife not feeling too good. What sounds good to her? Soup #21 of course
Love this place! Great tasting food and good proportions. Much better than the pho place on Bill Owens. Their broth for the pho is somehow bitter and sour at the same time.
Phobulous. We always thought this was pronounced Fo but learned it was Fa like a long, long way to go....Oh well, we had an awesome outing. We took a lunch run here with our medical student visitor PM) and her fiance and my daughter. We entered with an open mind and left with a full belly. The inside is nothing super special but we liked it and the atmosphere it created with the unique service and the menu pictures along the wall and the conversation as well as Vietnamese food and eating lessons from our host made for a great memory. <br/ We did our homework before we came here researching reviews on Urbanspoon and Yelp and found the most commonly liked items were the Special soup and the Lemongrass Shrimp on Vermicilli. We also learned that our host was gruff but seemed to love to teach about preparing your dish on the table and how to eat if you seemed interested to learn. Two of us got the Stir Fry meats with carrot and broccoli #22 and they loved every bite. They were shown how to use the two sauces on the table to spice it up from 1 to 10 in heat. My fellow lunch reviewer said 10 was not too hot for him but my daughter stuck to a 3.<br/ We had as an appetizer the eggrolls and were shown how to spice up our dipping sauce and how to roll these in lettuce and basil leaves and dip and eat. They were awesome this way and the herbage created a great texture.<br/ Our student got the Pho soup #21 and was shown how to prepare it carefully and she loved it. Her fiance and I got the 13C which was the lemongrass shrimp and vermicilli stir fry and I would get again anytime. We have had this lemongrass on other occasions and it is a great taste to any meat we have tried and unique. Once again our host showed us how to prepare it and gave me a good review that I needed) on chopsticks usage. Our beverages were like a green tea of sorts but they do have diet dr pepper.<br/ After a lot of conversation and chewing and ahhh's, we were left only needing a dessert but ran out of time....if only this was still part Baskin Robbins or whatever the name of this place was when it was an ice cream place I would come to a long time ago. <br/ <br/ JG score of 7 +2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +1 for diet dr pepper, +1 for gruff but loving and instructive service, +1 for we will return)
By far best in longview.. Best pho in east texas bar none. Fresh spring rolls and the soup is a punch in the face with flavor.. Let the lady know that you're new and she'll show you the ropes.. Excellent rice and vermicelli dishes as well.. Also vegetarian friendly..
Good food. It was a little pricier than I expected but the portions were filling. Wasn't expecting white rice but the lady was happy to help with the sauce combinations until she found a combination I liked. Small place and friendly service
