Staff seemed to be in training and forgot our water and wine several times. The food was very pretty but tasteless and poorly cooked, although the puddings were very nice. Very expensive for what we received. View all feedback.
We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our short break. the staff were all kind and obliged and service in 1919 restaurant and bar was very good. we were impressed by the breakfast, but less so with the evening meal, especially on Easter Sunday. for more than two nights to stay could represent a problem, as the menu in the grunde was the same two evenings (four starters and four mains) with only a few small tweets to the ingredients in the second night.
We were a little surprised to be the only people in the restaurant for a lunch in the week, presumably that was the reason why we felt that we got very the B team, both in the kitchen and in the restaurant. our waiter was very competent. to keep our eating, but not in the position to ask our about the menu and the weeping list or more irritating he answered vaguely about eating and wrong in relation to the wee instead of admitting, he had no warning and review with another employee. fortunately, we were able to review our question about wein selection online, as its advice would have led us to buy a bottle of something we had not enjoyed. eating was good, not exciting or particularly interesting, just good. the view from our table was of course fabulous and it is possible that we have returned at a point to try the dinner menu as we live in walking distance and the setting is beautiful. However, when I checked my reception the next morning, I realized that I had been charged for 3 lunch instead of 2 yes, I had to check at that time, but we were the only people in the restaurant at that time, it seems a ridiculous mistake. I have the hotel immediately by email with a photo of the acknowledgement and their credit, they called me soon after. the employee apologized and said he would immediately refund the wrong fee on my credit card and he carefully calculated the corresponding part of the service fee. so I’m not out of the bag, but her answer was lacking generous among these circumstances I would have expected that a business of this type to make a form of additional gestures “a free bottle of wine at the next eating here” or whatever. instead of just thinking 'not great, but close to another try at some point,' I am left with negative feelings about my first visit and not return.
Great lunch: one of the best I had for a long time. starter chicken parfait, main cod-loin, finished with chocolate cream: all the highest standard. the presentation of each teller was exceptional, but the taste was even better. even the brot and...butter was remarkable, and beyond that they have the amazing prospect. highly recommended.
We dined here during the week and the 3 course meal we had was perfect from start to finish. The taste, the presentation all of it was mouthwatering. We would have expected to eat a meal like this in London for double the price...and thought the price point at 1919 was fantastic for the high level of food being produced. I just wish I lived nearer because this would definitely be a restaurant I would return to again and again. Keep doing what you are doing , its wonderful.
Great food, great staff and best produce used. Very creative and good portions. Definitely worth a visit.
