Restaurante Manta Mar - Manta Rota

Sunday at 18;00 a.m. back from the beach personally tried to book a table for four for dinner. in the first floor and a dame asked if we could book a table for 20;00 hours. now the surprise: no answer available. only one woman sitting at the end of the room and smoking a cigarette, dared her head to the right and left again. So if they want to go to this so-called restaurant, they don't have to talk, they just learn how to understand the headlines. worse place in manta rota.

Not even the trouble, this is the worst restaurant I was in the last 20 years. at least! terrible meat with low quality, grilled together with fish, so even if they forget the bad quality, the taste is really bad. we haven't even eaten half. of what was served. they make one fall and go somewhere else.

The frango de churrasco (drilled chicken) was dry and burned, tipical when they did the huh again. also the karapau (fish) was not good.

We came because of the great reviews here, but we left quite disappointed and not satisfied.Yes, the place looks nice and the service is indeed very friendly.However, the food took over 35min after order (grilled fish/meat and nothing that would justify such a delay). And what came was bland and tasteless and there was no cooking skill whatsoever involved either, like on a special diet in a hospital. A total lack of effort.3/5 because of the ambience & friendliness only.

I eat out, almost daily, here in the Algarve and very regularly in Manta Rota. Tonight was my first time to visit Restaurante Manta Mar, under it's new and spectacular management of Maria and her team. I was warmly welcomed into this oasis of tranquility in the centre of Manta Rota. The menu is varied and I was thrilled to find a choice of vegetarian options. I started with goat's cheese, drizzled with honey and fine herbs. I followed this with a Greek Salad, probably the best that I have ever had, including those that I have eaten in Greek restaurants. The accompanying yogurt-based sauce was fantastic. The quality of the presentation was first class. Worthy of a restaurant with much higher prices. I was also impressed with the wine selection and, in particular, with the choice of half-bottles. Not only that, the red wines were available at a selection of temperatures. I paid a few cents more than €20 for my food, a very nice half-bottle of red wine, lots and lots of water and a superb coffee to complete a most enjoyable experience. I must also mention that the background music was really good without being in the least bit overpowering. I will return, and often. Do yourself a favour and try it. Thank you Maria. Beijinhos
