Domaine des Etangs - Massignac

The most important feature of Domaine des Etangs is certainly its stunningly beautiful setting ... The estate with its lakes, water mill and chateau is absolutely brilliant ... when restoring the domaine money wasn't an objection and every detail seems perfect. The food, and that is what you come for, is excellent as well ... as can be expected from a one-star-Michelin restaurant ... although somehow it will not necessarily 'wow' you (or 'blow you away'). Tip: stop by for lunch when a 3-course menu is yours for only 35 euro - a price/quality ratio almost unheard of in most other countries!All-in-all an absolute winner and to end with a quote from The Terminator: I'll be back!

Domaine des Etangs is unique. Its a 2500 family estate with lakes connected by streams and small waterfalls. Management has taken full advantage of everything this property has to offer--- row boats on every lake, comfortable bikes to ride on the propertys country roads, a fleet of electric cars to tour the property, a floating tennis court on a lake, a mill house turned into a beautiful spa, a glassed in floor with a pool with jets to swim against for a workout/steam room/ cold room with ice/ foot massage Jacuzzi, Outdoor pool overlooking a lake, and exercise gym. Now include a Michelin rated quality restaurant , great service and all you have to do is ask yourself is this somewhere you might enjoy spending a few days. We spent three. Now a few tips-- we arrived as wedding party that had taken over the property was leaving . The Hotel was in the midst of that and was not ready for us. The staff suggested that we have a seat until they could check us in and said that might be an hour or so. We eventually convinced them to fix us a light lunch but be prepared that your welcome might be less than hoped for. The second and perhaps more important note is that along with the buffet breakfast you can order various prepared options. There was no server present nor a menu available the first morning (or any morning) so we did not learn that until the second morning. The Hotel needs to correct this especially given that the breakfasts we ordered the last 2 mornings were fantastic and therefore should be a positive . One final note - the hotel and staff is very informal and relaxed. Go with expectation that you are going to take advantage of everything the Domaine has to offer and you will not be disappointed.

J'y étais déjà venue en décembre dernier c'était parfait. Et là nous avons dîner sur la terrasse. Endroit magique, idyllique et les saveurs culinaires sont fantastiques. En entrée j'ai pris des Lisettes ,je ne me souviens pas du nom exact du plat, ce fut une explosion de saveurs en bouche. Tout était super.

Amazing food. Had the tasting menu and everything was perfect. Beautiful surroundings and fabulous wine list. Friendly service. The food was faultless.

The degustation menu was fabulous. Presentation, taste and service was spot on. I am still trying to master the cherry pate since I have been home. LOL. Definitely worth every euro spent. Thank you.
